overplayed songs?

For all the music-lovers out there, this is your place to swap lyrics, talk about new bands and jazz about concerts. All things related to the audio world belong here.

Tenshi no Ai wrote:I shrug at that myself. Only actually heard about them not too long ago as one of those "really good bands that not many people know about".

Oh, and another to add to the overplayed list that I totally forgot about: Black Eyed Peas. Everytime a new single comes out they play it over... and over... and over... some I like but I've already seen the Pump It music video a million times already :/

Well, they are a really good band (in fact, one of my favorites ^_^).

But yes, the Black Eyed Peas release a song, and it's everywhere instantly.

Another overplayed song... I remember back when Shinedown released '45' as a single, I heard it on the radio all the time. In fact, 45 is the reason I don't like Shinedown anymore.

I was jesting with the Zao remark...Seeing as I've yet to see one of their songs being overplayed. Though I can easily say that I've heard way to much of Coldplay, Relient K....

Every Thursday? Is that for some sort of School News opening or something? *shrugs* That song is SO 2 years ago though... I'm surprised this is the second time someone mentioned it on here, knowing it's not really a new song^^ Guess it's where you are etc. that depends on the overplayingness.

We did a school news program. And we played 'Cross Out The Eyes' and another random song by Thursday every Thursday. I would assume people got pretty sick of it pretty quickly.

It is very easy for one to start inventing one's own lyrics for songs that one has heard at least once a day over the period of many years.

*starts singing* WHY CAAAAAN'T AH SIIIIIING WHENEVER AH SIIIIING ABOUT YOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUU!~~

Hmm.... The radio station(s) I listen to are actually very diverse in nature. Its rare I hear a song repeated in to close interments.

Wait... for a while I was hearing one song like... every day... what was it.

Oh yeah, Bruce Springsteen's Born to Run. EESH! I probably wouldn't notice it being overplayed if it weren't for the fact I didn't like it in the first place :P

Jamie Cullem...He was so overplayed by my friends that it took quite a long time for me to like him again. The same thing happened with Barlowgirl, one of my best friends would play them nonstop. It took about three months of not hearing them to be able to stand them again.

wow you all are brutal to green day! *proudly puts on green day t-shirt and green day bracelet* i'm still a fan!

oh and for those of you who were talking about evanescence, the word on the street is they're working on a new album and it will be released at the end of the year. lacuna coil is a really cool band, and if you like evanescence and lacuna coil you might wanna check out a band called within temptation too.

and my most over-played song- photograph by nickelback
In my heart's sequestered chambers
Lie truths stripped of poet's gloss...

Not just Photograph, but practically every Nickelback single got overplayed.

BTW, I'm a proud Green Day fan, as well. But not of the new stuff. Shenanigans is where I draw the line. Anything before then, I'm proud to be a fan of. I'm listening to their album 1039 right now, and I'm enjoying it. I just can't enjoy their new stuff.

That awful song by Hoobastank is overplayed here. "The Reason", I believe. Terrible.

Yeah, I've heard that too, I don't care how overplayed Evanescence get, I'm still gonna like em. The mainstreams not gonna steal that from me!

I have a feeling I'm going to get very tired of Panic! At the Disco soon (baring in mind I heard em before they became known and liked them then). Curse you mainstream! 'shakes fists'

ROFL, Panic! At the Disco!! I've always found that name funny, for some reason. Anyways, it's not too hard to get tired of Panic when they sound JUST LIKE Fall Out Boy. And as I said earlier, FOB is overplayed, too. So yeah.

Heh yeah *points to my first message made*. Honestly sometimes I'll just sit there and get stuck in my head "I came in haven't you ever heard of, closing the *beep* *beep* door?"

Oy... maybe if that line wasn't so repeititve I wouldn't have it stuck in my head as much as I do^^ (Trying to avoid the music video so it won't happen again :/)

About Green Day though, luckily when all the songs became popular, I didn't watch TV and listen to radio to hear it overplayed, so only listened to the songs on my own time^^

Slight divergence, does anyone think that these songs won't be quite as annoying after they aren't being played constatly? I used to hate Can't touch this, but now several years later, I hear it now and again and it ain't all that bad.

I'm totally with you on that Rightous Slave...There are some songs that I hated because they were overplayed but now like because they almost never show up any more.

100% True. Daft Punk - used to hate them because they were just mainstream dance. Now - totally brilliant stuff!

Anyways, it's not too hard to get tired of Panic when they sound JUST LIKE Fall Out Boy.

While we're on the subject, how come all the pop rock bands are suddenly bringing out albums again. Taking Back Sundays got a new one coming out too. I saw the video and was like 'yawn'. Theres nothing wrong with a big of pop rock but seriously, 70% of the bands could fall off a cliff and die and variety-wise we wouldn't have lost anything. Especially Bowling For Soup 'gack!' Them bringing a new album out would just round it all off :s

Okay, "How you remind me" -Nickelback Is not that great. Especially after being played at least 123,456,789 times. This person I know listens to the song at least a million times a day.

I have to agree with Third Day and Mercy Me. Especially "I Can Only Imagine." That song is such a pain for me to listen to...As well as "You Lift Me Up." Definately to of the most annoying and annoyingly overplayed songs in years.

There's some new rap song out about "ridin' dirty". I swear, they're playing it like every 15 minutes. This is why as soon as I get a free moment at work, I change the friggin' radio station. At home, I don't listen to the radio. :D
