elim oddity

Postby Spizik » Wed Sep 15, 2004 8:58 pm

well here we go...... im a mid-term freshmen at elim bible institute were im stidying to be a youth paster. But unlike most people here i wasnt born into a christian home or have had strong christian influences.
I was raised the first 15 years in Nunda N.Y. my parents split when i was 7 and lived with my dad and older sister. life slowly turned to a down-ward spiral when i turned 12. at the age i stated drinking, smoking, and dabled in the Occult.
At 15 fighting was breaking out at my dads so i moved to my moms to escape. There life started tunring around.... i startd going to church, moved to a christian high school, became sober, and started believing in God.
My senior year of high school i went to a new church and became saved my first night in attendence. to sum up some pointless stuff.... i became stronger as a believer and am now assisting to the youth paster and attending bible school a year later...... like "what the crap?" huh?

well i hope someone got bored enough to read this

Peace out

just adding a bit more to this....

the story between me and my father is.... well interesting. I spent 8 years after my parents divorce living w/ him. in that time he met my step-mother and have been married since 94 or 95. Me and my step-mother didnt get along and since the two os didnt me and my dad drifted apart. being the kind of person i was made it hard on the relationships being that my dad wanted a "prep" basketball player which i wasnt. and i also was a slacker inschool and that made things worse and a couple of times abuse took place for punishment for not doing good in school. on one occation my right sholder was dislocated when i was thrown up against a wall in our living room. when i was 15 i knew that a beating would come because of a mix-up at school so my mom came and picked me up before my dad got home. untill of febuary of last year, my legal residence was at my fathers so i was a illeagal student of 2 high schools anf the 1st 2 months of college.

I have been continually impressed with how much an honest reading of the Bible can do.

Hi there! Is your Elim college related to the Elim denomination, particularly the one found in the UK as elsewhere? If so, I attended Regents Theological College - Elim training centre in the UK.

Greetting by the way. God bless.

i was going through some of old stuff the other night and i found the notes to my first sermon. the funny thing was that i wasnt saved at the time and i was preaching in front of the whole church.

the thing i spoke on was being humbly gratefull. lol go figure a unsaved kid (i was like 15 or 16) teaching in a church little alone humility and was told that i was annointed to speak.... i thought they were nuts

well, i'll just be adding bit by bit so if y'all get bored stop on back from time to time

I'm curious as to how that situation came about; would you mind elaborating? If I have neglected to consider a past element of this thread that may answer my question, I apologize.

Far from boring.

Hi and welcome. There is another member here who is interested in attending Elim. Did you hear of this site from him?

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Wow, that is an amazing testimony, Spizik. I know what it is like to have a broken family, My father left for another woman when I was seven. Luckily though, my mother was granted custody of us. (Me and my two sisters) and she is a Christian. so, I am sorry I cannot relate with you on the part of growing up in a non-Christian home. God bless you Spizik, for going to school to be a youth pastor! God will use you for wonderful things!

What got you interested in anime in the first place? just curious. Welcome to the forums, and I will always be around if you have any questions! (Like I know to much myself...... :))

I'm so glad you found us!

yeah its a little more then 1/2 way through my semister here at elim. lifes been hard..... broke up w/ my g/f cuz she decieded that she wasnt coming back 2 the states (a missionary) and that kinda sux. ive passed 3 kidney stones so far and have been screw up cuz of that. because of the pain that put me in i was put on codien which my body cant handle and i became addicted and went through w/drawls. my roommate and i arent getting along... and honestly if i wasnt saved i'd have hit him by now. its nuts round here... but classes r bomb. Old testiment servy kicks (ive never really gotten into the old test. that much before) so it kinda balances its self out.
well... i'l going back 2 school work now... i got a scripture test 2night at 7 (ouch)
Peace out and God bless
