Favorite Album Covers.

Here's a thread for posting your favorite album covers. Post the art and a little explanation why you like it so much. Here's a few of mine.

Image
Cool Hand Luke - Of Man.
This image captures the name and feel of the album perfectly, not to mention it's well drawn.

Image
Acretongue - Nihil.
This is just a masterful image, and it's cool and dark looking even with the light subject matter.

Image
The Automatic - Not Accepted Anywhere.
I love the silly cartoony style of the cover, it fits the frantic electro punk feel of this album very well. Not to mention that the liner notes have a fun little comic in them.

Image
Bayside - Killing Time.
Nothing says that "I'm killing time" better than an astronaught at a diner.

Image
Beta State - Stars.
Awesome drawing. 'Nuff said.

Some time ago I posted an "identify the album cover" quiz on my website, which included many of my favorites. The quiz is here; the answers are here.

Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory
Image
This just encapsulates the grungey feel of what Linkin Park used to be, what I fell in love with about them, and what I wish they still were XD

Evanescence - Fallen
Image
Simple. Cold. Beautiful.

Luca Turilli - Prophet of the Last Eclipse
Image
Doesn't this just scream EPIC?!!!

We Are The Fallen - Tear the World Down
Image
A chilling, evocative sort of picture that perfectly captures the feeling of the band.

Theocracy - Mirror of Souls
Image
When you've heard their song "Mirror of Souls," this takes on so much meaning it could almost bring me to tears.

Submersed - Immortal Verses
Image
And this just makes me chuckle :P

the_wolfs_howl, you do not know the meaning of epic until you see this album cover:
Image

Amon Amarth-Twilight of the Thunder God
This album cover simply screams at you from its place on the shelf, pleading you to buy it simply because it looks cool. And it is.

Then there's this one:

Image

Blind Guardian-Nightfall in Middle Earth
I love the way this depicts Morgoth sitting on his throne in Angband, with the Silmarils in his crown.

And:

Image

Showbread-The Fear of God
It's a Showbread album. 'nuff said.

And the best one of all is:

Image

Pink Floyd-The Dark Side of the Moon
Does it need a reason? This is the best because it captures the eye with a spot of color shooting out of a prism on an entireley dark background. It is the simplest, but definitley the best of all that I've listed here.

edit: Metallica's ... And Justice for All has a great album cover too, but I'm not sure if I can post it or not. I like the symbolism and how it relates to the album's lyrical content.

Here's another one:

Image

And did I buy this CD just because the cover looked that awesome? Yes I did.

Found a new favorite!

Thousand Foot Krutch - The Art of Breaking
Image
This picture is pretty cool by itself, but doubly so when you see that the back cover of the CD case is the same girl from the other side, on the other side of a transparent barrier, and you can see that she's standing in a barren wilderness, and this lush forest is what she's reaching for through the barrier.
You can find out things about the past that you never knew. And from what you've learned, you may see some things differently in the present. You're the one that changes. Not the past.

not quite my favorite:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/e5/Time_out_album_cover.jpg
but I like the music, and for some reason, I can't think of very many album covers (other than a handful from either an independent artist or OCRemix, LOL)

as another lol: I post an album cover from the '50s, and half the images I click on look like they came right out of the 60s. I guess that deserves an odd response:

I kinda like the CD cover for Ross Lynch's album, the one where he's on his tiptoes.
I love N*sync's "No strings Attached" album.
