Can anybody tell me something about Genshiken? I've read some good things about it in a "best-of-200x"-thread. Can you recommend it? Is there any negative content in it? Doumo arigatou! :)

It's a fun show about a college club for otaku, who hang out and do stuff like try to work on comics or visual novels, or go to comic conventions.

I've only read the manga, but tthe content of the manga was:
This deals a lot with the sexual side of okatudom, with sexual doujins pretty much all the guys buy, along with porn games, hentai, and one guy is discovered to have a collection of real-life porn. The girls also get in on the action with yaoi titles for themselves, and one of them makes a yaoi doujin based off of two members of Genshiken. None of this is ever shown on the page- or in the extremely rare times it is, it is heavily censored so you can’t tell what’s in the picture. Sex is mentioned often, never graphically, but there are discussions of how many times, whether someone’s done it, and whether there is role playing. There is nudity when the girls go to the hot springs. They are clearly naked, but the page is so censored it’s Barbie-doll nudity, and non-sexual except for a joke made to get laughs.

Do you guys know of any good like superhero anime? It doesn’t even have to be "superhero" but just anything with freakishly powered up teens, or whatever;) I'm just finishing E's Otherwise and want something kind of like it in the special abilities aspect. As always no Yaoi or Yuri and as clean as possible^_^

Darker than Black
Cyborg 009

s-CRY-ed and Sacred Seven fit the genre, but I don't think they are as good as the three above.

You might also want to try Birdy the Mighty: Decode. It's not exactly what you're describing, but it's close enough and good enough that I think you'll dig it.

Seconding Tiger and Bunny. Also seconding Sacred Seven. It is not a masterpiece but it is exceedingly fun.

I'm going to push for s-Cry-ed. I think it's a super-fun series with great characters that rarely lets down. It's not nearly as deep as Darker than Black, but I think it's much funner. If what you are after is guys punching each other so hard that they alter the landscape around with the shockwaves, you can do much worse than watching s-Cry-ed.

Alternatively, if you feeling brave enough to take on hundreds of episodes go for the big shounen series. One Piece, Saint Seiya, Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, Yu Yu Hakusho would be great picks.

I saw it recently, It's a little bit more violent then I expected, but it's not a gorefest by any means. Princess Mononoke is more violent.

No sex at all, not even a little bit.

No bad language, at all.

Religion... well and this is a bit of a spoiler, but the whole idea is that you can bring the dead back to life in a certain manner and the characters meet something they refer to as god, but definitely not our God. It isn't really glorified or anything, it mostly just serves as a plot point.

Edit: I thought it was pretty good, but I haven't seen any of the others so can't compare.

Ok, thanks so much guys^_^ I do love long series, just fyi (yea, I know, I'm weird:P) I am currently watching Naruto and have been slowly collecting the volumes for some time now. I have also seen the first season of Darker than Black and loved it, though I stopped watching the second season. s-CRY-ed is on my “to buy” list so that one will be watched soon as well:) I've never heard of Tiger and Bunny, Saint Seiya, or Yu Yu Hakusho so I'll have to look into those. I've heard of Cyborg 009 but never actually watched it, so I'll see about that one as well:) Sacred Seven I couldn't find dubbed, so..... (Yes, another oddity, I don't watch sub>.<) One Piece I tried and it just really didn't interest me, and dragon Ball has always seemed....... really odd I guess, so I'm not really interested in that one either. I have heard of Birdy the Mighty, though I have no idea what it's about, so again with that one we'll see:D Same for Heroman, but all in all, I got some great suggestions that I can't wait to look into:) So thanks again:) Now, I have another inquiry. At this video shop near where I live they have Blue Gender and the Get Backers for really cheap, so I was wondering if anyone knew about the content? Is there a lot of sexual content in either? And how bloody and gory are they? And I’m quite certain neither are yuri or yaoi, but is there any content like that in either of them? Any help would be appreciated^_^

I don't know much about Blue Gender nor Getbackers (though I'd say the latter is more likely to appeal to you than the former) but I do know about Saint Seiya, since now you are considering it.

Saint Seiya can be quite bloody and gory depending on the enemy. Hands go through people's bodies, limbs fly away and there's a character that can inflict horrible illusions on his opponents' minds making them feel they fall into lava and melt, etc. Following a common trope, the eviler and crueler an enemy is the more horrible his death is going to be. Most fights, however, are just fists or other blunt impacts with barely some blood being spit at some point so your mileage may vary episode by episode. That being said, Saint Seiya has some of the most exciting fights in anime, IMHO.

I think I can give a good bit of what the content in Blue Gender is.
Blue Gender, created by Takahashi Ryousuke (who is the man behind Gasaraki, also a well known mecha anime), is definitely not your average mass-market anime with cute girls, funny face expressions and filler episodes. However, it still follows the overused end of the world scenario, but it's played out better than most of its counterparts.
Conceptually, there is a strong resemblance between this anime and Paul Verhoeven's "Starship Troopers" movie. Moreover, Blue Gender is definitely on par with many great American sci-fi horror films. While there is plenty of mecha action, this anime concentrates more on exploring the human condition under such circumstances where the will to survive must be stronger than ever.
The way people die is quite gruesome but not as bloody as a series like Berserk for instance. [Check the Review for that series.] Blue Gender is a story about survival - plain and simple
As for Sex. There are a lot of sexual scenes. There are, in particular, a few episodes with blatent nudity, sex, and debauchery. I honestly found little reason for it, except to portray the new attitude humanity has taken towards sexuality since the arrival of the Blue. ( The submission of women to sex in this story is unbelievable.)
The World of Blue Gender is a chaotic world with a depressing atmosphere which drives the characters to seek for the feeling of being alive, that explains all the sexual scenes.

And I'll take GetBackers:
Genre: Comedy
Sexual Content: Not much; I can't remember any time where sex is mentioned or anything. The only constant issue is Hevn having immodest outfits, but it's not like she dresses like a stripper or anything, just cleavage. There's also a Venus de Milo arc, and the statue (naked waist up) is shown in detail a few times. Not presented sexually though, so it's not all that bad.
Violence: There's a bit of action, and some blood; not gory by any means.

Idk, I thought it was funny. Seeing the above content for BG, I'd say this is a heck of a lot cleaner. In fact, GB is a lot cleaner than most shows. I let my 12-year-old brother watch it and wouldn't have major issues with my 9-year-old brother watching it, so you're fine. Bonus: They have superheroish powers.

For the content in Blue Gender:

This person perfectly explained the content in Blue Gender. If not comfortable with viewing sex and gore, avoid Blue Gender.

Also, to add to discussion:
The first half of Blue Gender is pitch perfect survival horror, and the second half of the series tries to become little more psychological in nature. The second half isn't quite as strong as the first half but I thought it was still good. Blue Gender is amongst the lesser beauties for me. If the story was told in fewer episodes, it would have been a masterpiece. The last epsiodes really harmed the series.

I'm looking for a time travel anime with no yaoi or yuri and a TV-14 or lower rating.
(Seen The Girl Who Leapt Through Time already)
Don't even know if any of those sort of anime exist, but it doesn't hurt to ask :D

Millennium Actress (sort-of, but not really in the way TGWLTT is)
Flint the Time Detective
Zipang
Voices of a Distant Star

There are a few, but their ratings tend to be higher (like 16+ or 18+), like for Steins;Gate, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, Noein, and Pandora Hearts

I don't know why Noein got the rating it did, honestly. I do not remember anything remotely objectionable in that show, but someone please chime in to correct me if I'm wrong.

Well, it's still ongoing, so it's kind of hard to recommend the show when it could get better or worse as it goes along. I've seen one episode, and it was alright but nothing spectacular, especially if you've seen the 2004 movie.

Okay, so I know I was going to ask about Otome Youkai Zakuro some time last year but decided it wasn't for me due to the fact that it was about 'demons'.
However, my older brother watched it and said that it wasn't really like that.
(Of course, said brother isn't very spiritually sensitive nowadays.)
So I would like someone to tell me the content in it. (Violence included.)

Thanks!

^ I only watched halfway since I wasn't that impressed by it, but the spiritual content is that
-demons still exist but are becoming extinct, and are discriminated against by the human population.
Violence:
- There was some fighting, but there was only some blood spatter (and death offscreen, of monsters). Some skeletons in one of the episodes.
Sexual Content:
-There was flirting from the twin girls for the guy they were partnered wth. The main girl and the guy were put in the same room, but she puts up rocks between them to show if he dares try to get closer (he's not that type of guy, but she was suspicious).

Hrm. Animegirl wrote a decent review that should cover most everything:
http://breakingmetalwindows.blogspot.com/2011/05/otome-youkai-zakuro-demon-maiden-zakuro.html
The one thing I should note about the women being spirited away is that I only saw it mentioned in one episode, so it's probably not that big a plot point.

SKET Dance.
Image
This anime mostly centers around a high-school's support group known as the "SKET Dan" which is an abbreviation for Support, Kindness, Encouragement and Troubleshoot. However, they also frequently butt heads with the Student Council who also aid in helping others. Very comical & exaggerated.

Anime has 64 episodes.
Manga currently has up to Chapter 198 & Chapter 214
Enjoy as much as I do :XD:

Okay, I think I'm gonna give this a shot and if it does end up bothering me, I can always stop watching. Thank you again.
