Feel like I failed.

Short rant I promise.
I just had my 23rd birthday.
I am in the exact same position I was, yet worse, as I was when I was 18. Living with my parents working at a part time job, with no promise for a future.
I always hoped Id be farther along than this. Like living with roommates, on the verge of marriage, starting a career...not stuck in the house with no car, not knowing the first thing about mortgages or taxes(by myself, that is).
I feel like I not only let myself down, but who ever I may eventually (haha) marry down, too.

I never thought about it before, but I have too many lazy habits. Im also too timid and shy, and follow way more often than lead, always finishing last.
That is my main request.
I want to be the strong leader of a family, as a man should. I want to be independent (of parents help), and lead people.
Right now I feel like a looser, and am not living up to what God made me to be.

Well, in that case I think it is with purpose for God's plan that you are where you are today. In many cases, those that succeeds in God's plan often start on the polar opposite.

This being said, I think it's a good time to start talking with a career counselor. It would be a great stepping stone into becoming what you want to become.

Don't waste energy on being too hard on yourself either. I mean, it's great that you got a clear goal and all that and frustration of not being on said goal is normal, but worry more about what to do and how quick to do it. Talk with a career councellor, try to get a full time job as a result of first advice and when you've established yourself as an independent then you can start thinking about family, about marriage and how to go from there.

Regardless, I wish you the best of luck. Often, the hardest thing is just to set the wheel in motion. Once that is up and running things often go smoothly. I will pray that whatever course of action you take will prove to be effective.

Join the millions of other twenty-somethings who are in the exact same boat as you. Here, lemme scoot over and make some room.

Dude, mortgages and taxes and all that stuff are something you probably don't even want to get into right now. They're not as cool as people make them out to be.

Also, 23 is not old, so don't feel bad. Keep hanging in there, and if an opportunity comes your way, pursue it. Don't beat yourself up; that doesn't help at all.

wow.... It's amazing how much your request mirrors the way I've been feeling about my self for pretty much the last year, except for the car which I just finally started driving this past summer. Now however I have a car and no job instead of a job and no car. Trust me if you had a choice between the two, the latter is better. Anyway I'll pray for you to have a break though of some kind. I've only recently started to have a couple of my own, but now I have some tough decisions to make. G-d will provide, just be willing to except what ever He gives you, even if it's not what you expected. Trust me taking what ever He decides to give you is far better than anything that you think you might want instead.
