Let's get this straight. You hate hunchback because it wasn't true to to the book and it had a happy ending but you loved Little Mermaid even though it wasn't true to the book and it also had a happy ending.

You think Belle is frail? Belle was like...the first female Disney main character to stand up for herself and not take any crap.

Also as far as Esmeralda not being a princess, I looked at the poll and er...Alice isn't a princess either. So if Alice is on there then Esmeralda should be too. *nodnod*

There's a difference. LIke I said, Hunchback lost its power because of the forced ending. I think with an unhappy ending, the story hits you more. You realize that people deserve happiness, even if they're deformed. Which I think was what Victor Hugo was driving at.

My favorite is Cinderella simply because she's the prettiest - especially in the newer look where she's blonde.

Aww why is there no Meg?

Mulan is pretty awesome too though.
I like Ariel a lot, but not the Disney Ariel. The orginal story Ariel was better.

And Alice....just cause.

dOOd it's Disney. Considering that most Disney cartoons are made for a younger audience, it would be incredibly bad business for Disney if they just let Esmeralda die and Quasimoto starve to death lying beside her dead body.

Hmm. Well, I suppose there are different versions of "the original," but in the volume of Brothers Grimm fairy tales that I have, the story is remarkably similar to the Disney version. Okay, so there aren't forest creatures doing laundry in the book, and the wicked witch only shows up one time in the movie, but other than that it's almost exactly the same. The witch dies by falling off a cliff/being struck by lightning rather than dancing in red-hot shoes till she falls down dead, but she still dies. It amounts to the same thing. And all the other characters get happily ever afters in both versions.

As for Hunchback of Notre Dame, I just thought the movie was boring. This was back when I was...oh, seven or eight? I just could never see the point.

Also, I just realized something: Lots of the villains in the old Disney classics were defeated by falling from great heights. It's a good idea, since that way you don't have to show the blood and such.

So, you think the Hunchback deserves happiness. But when they gave it to him in the Disney version, you think it sucks. I'm...I just...what?

Alice from Alice in Wonderland? Well, in Through the Looking Glass
she does become a queen, though Disney hasn't done anything with that to my knowledge.
the book just presents the lesson better, NAte. Bottom line: Hunchback of Notre Dame is not meant for children.

I think what Nate was saying that you post pretty much contradicts what you said earlier, Rock ^__^ Do you not like Disney Movies that don't stay true to the ending/story in general ^^? Or, just the Hunchback of Notre Dame ^^?

Yes, most other Disney movies aren't really meant for kids either :P Yet, those were watered down for kids ^^
Mulan (the real version) didn't have a happy ending either. Captain Li Shang dies from a barrage of arrows.
It's a hard choice for me... hmm... either Mulan or Belle.

*EDIT* I voted for Mulan for 2 reasons.

1. Cause she went to war at the risk of being killed or jailed by her own fellow soldiers so I think that makes her a bit more tough.

2. She was an awesome CP character in KH2.

Belle or Mulan. I can't decide. These are the only two I actually like and if I HAD to pick.. I think I'd say Belle for nostalgia because omg I loved that movie so much when I was little.

You're not the only one. Human-beast is much lamer than Beast-beast IMHO.

Also, shouldn't Kairi be on this list from KH? I would vote for her if she was on it. XD

No, Kairi is an original character for Kingdom Hearts. I was only going for characters from movies.

I had to go way against the grain and vote for Anastasia from... Anastasia! It's not a popular film, but one of my favorites. Otherwise, it would have been a toss-up between Belle and Mulan- I love them both!

My least favorite princess is Ariel. She gives up her home, her family, and half her anatomy for a prince who got a crush on her after only seeing her once (and then living with her for three days). I never thought that was a recipe for a happy marriage.
