Also, Hinata does have the potential to become truly strong (unlike Sakura, mostly) in that she's focused and has Hyuga abilities. I imagine Sasuke might notice that, once he's not so focused on Itachi.
Really, though, Sasuke has no motivations except his brother. If Itachi dies, what's Sasuke going to do?
