Most anticipated movie for the summer and beyond?

Postby Scarecrow » Tue Apr 14, 2009 1:07 pm

I dunno, I think there's a lot of great looking movies this year. More so than usual. I don't think I've been looking forward to so many different movies coming out the same year. Which one are you looking forward to the most though?

I can't wait for Transformers 2 and for Ice Age 3: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs. Also for Night At The Museum 2: Battle Of The Smithsonian.

Up.
Even though it comes out May 29th. But that's close enough to summer. 8)

I do really want to look forward to the new Wolverine movie, but somehow can't motivate myself for it. I may still go to see it, just cause.

I had not heard about the new Star Trek movie until now, though. That looks interesting.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
I'm not a huge fan of the series, but the sixth book was my favorite, and the trailer looks awesome.

I knew there were gonna be a bunch I couldn't think of... :P

Ya I hadn't heard of the new star trek movie till like 2 months ago when the trailer came out. I've never been into Star trek, never saw a full episode, never saw any of the movies, was never interested... but this new movie looks awesome.

For me, I think I'm actually anxiously awaiting Avatar the most (this is not the Last Air Bender BTW). I mean, I don't know much about it, and I don't think they're are any leaks of pictures or anything on the internet yet... but the more I hear talk about how this is supposed to be unlike any other 3D film we've ever seen, I'm quite excited about it. Supposedly you wont even need 3D glasses and instead it's like looking through a glass or window and watching the events on the other side. I dunno thats just what I heard and ya...

Of trailers I've seen and actually know something about, Terminator I think I'm the most excited about. A little apprehensive about cause I don't wanna be disappointed but ya.

Oh and Where the Wild Things Are... they totally captured the feel and look of the art in the book... Don't know how you can stretch a 30 page picture book into a full length movie but we'll see...

I voted for Other, because I cannot WAIT to see 9.

But I'm also REALLY looking forward to Up. So it's something of a tie. XD I'm looking forward to Where the Wild Things Are too, though. Should be a good summer!

Probably Harry Potter for a very spoilerable reason involving my least favorite character in the series and my most favorite character in the series.

I hadn't heard about 9 but it looks pretty darn awesome.

I vote Star Trek, though I'm also anticipating Up and 9. I love Star Trek, and this one looks like it's been made so that it can appeal to a broader audience, which is a good thing in my book.

I'm really looking forward to both HP 6 (it will the first HP movie I'm seeing in the cinema) and Where the Wild Things Are is an old favourite. I've been waiting for that one for ages.
Also, 9 and UP, and Coraline (not out in Australia yet).

Ooh, definitely watch Coraline when you get a chance (can't believe it isn't out there yet!).

I would like to see Up but I don't know if I'll make it out to the theatres for it. I'm also kind of curious about the new Terminator flick but I'm not getting my hopes up. I never do. XD

Pixar and the occasional cinematic blockbuster are really the only reasons I go to the theater anymore. Couple movies spark my interest, but Up is probably the only one I'll bother to see on the big screen.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. FINALLY we'll get to see it! And the all the trailers look really exciting....

I'm also happily anticipating Up and Wolverine.

I'm looking forward to X men Origins: Wolverine and that's mainly because I've been waiting for nearly ten years to see Gambit finally on the big Screen!

I was waiting for Wolverine, and while I'll still see it in theaters, a friend of mine invited us over for a "secret, rumored thing" and... Yeah, it wasn't entirely finished (missing a lot of CG work, unfinished compositing, unfinished score, unfinished ADR, and the last battle was a complete mess) but I still got the gist of it, and was a bit disappointed with some aspects of it (which I won't give away) I want to see the finished version, still, but now I'm just looking forward to Star Trek and Transformers 2... More Star Trek, because I didn't watch Transformers as a kid, but I did watch Star Trek (next Generation, I mean)

HBP has been one disappointment after the other... The final straw being the PG rating... If Order of the Phoenix was PG-13 material, then HBP sure as heck should be PG-13 too... I'll still watch it, but I"m not expecting much. I'll go for Evanna Lynch. She was the only thing that held the Order movie together for me... Her and the Dumbledore vs Voldemort fight, I mean.

Wait, what? A PG rating? That can not be good.
The trailer definitely showed Dumbledore toasting zombies, so I am not sure how it managed to get a PG.
I'm most interested in Star Trek. It's been far too long since there was a Star Trek movie.

Many.
But the one I'm anticipating the most is

NINJA ASSASSIN.

It has Rain (you know, the ninja from the Speed Racer film, i.e. the only good character in that candy-colored flop) as a ninja who's kicking all sorts of butt. Just look at why it's rated R:
strong bloody stylized violence throughout and language
And besides, it's directed by James McTeigue. He did V For Vendetta and was assistant director for a bunch of Wachowski movies. November 25th is the day it comes out, and I'm definitely midnighting it.

It was a three way tie for me between X-men: Origins, Harry Potter and Transformers. :D I'm going to the midnight premiere of all of them X3 Although I'm most excited for Harry Potter since I get to see the midnight premiere on my 17th birthday! Woo~ <3

I'm personally looking forward to Half-Blood Prince the most, Wolverine second. Half-Blood Prince was actually my least favorite book, so I'm curious to see if I'll like the film more. (Also, I'm going to try my best not to watch the movie and continuously think "OMG why wasn't [insert scene, character, line] in there." That ruined Prisoner of Azkaban for me, and hurt my opinion on the fourth and fifth films.)

Also, Up because Pixar is awesome. Don't know if I'll see it in theaters though. And I'm highly anticipating The Last Airbender (though that comes out next year) because 1) I loved the show and 2) I'm a big M. Night Shyamalan fan (possibly one of the few left, though I can easily see why XD).

Wait, when did James Cameron's Avatar get added to this list? I would have voted for it if I had seen it!
