Saddest songs of all time?

Mine are...

1. Last Kiss (by Wilson and the Cavaliers. Wilson's voice in my opinion was the best for this song ever done yet, though the Cavaliers re-recorded the song in 06 without Wilson. The music was better suited to the mood, but not the singer).
2. The Valley Song by Jars of Clay (hey sad does not mean hopeless!)
3. Where Were You? (When the World Stopped Turning) Alan Jackson
4. Sad Cafe by the Eagles
5. All for Love by Eric Carmen

I'm not a crier, but the top three are the only songs that have ever got tears into my eyes (even then I didn't verbally cry or anything).

Other close runner ups include...
Whiskey Lullabye (No, it does not support drinking if you somehow have never heard this song)
Crying by either Roy Orbinson or Don McLean (I like Don's version more, though Roy I like more generally of the two)
A whole slew of Irish songs that most people here have probably never heard of, but top among these would be.

Somehow, that song never ceases to depress me when I listen to it. Another very sad song is "When Somebody Loved Me" by Sarah McLachlan, which was used very effectively in Toy Story 2. But even just the song by itself is very sad and beautiful.

And then "When You're Gone" by Avril Lavigne is one of the most heart-wrenching songs I know, because it makes me think of losing my brother.
