He's probbly watching Eureka Seven wondering why his daughter squeals with delight when she sees Holland on screen. XD

Anyway, another moment comes from Death Note again. The opening scene of "Glare", when the group is eating what looks like either ice cream or sorbet while watching a video. That's just so off-beat! Also did anyone notice that Light's dad got three scoops while everyone else got two? Rank has it's privilages.

Also when L and Detective Yagami are doing their survelance on Light, L make the comment "When I was his age, I did strange things too..." in the back of my mind, I was thinking "No...REALLY??? You, the barefoot, bird pearched, shaggy haired, dark-eyed, consonant-named genius did strange things?"

Actually, episode 8 of Death Note is a completely off-beat and funny episode; worthy of may head smacks.

I forgot to mention Episode 32 of Bobobo above them all.

Three words: ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!

Around 52 times. In one episode...

My hand and my forehead are well acquainted thanks to anime/manga, but no particular incidents stand out in my mind apart from this panel from Air Gear:

[Linked for ch. 160-ish spoilers]

It was bad enough in context. Removing all bits of context just leaves you going "NO, REALLY?!".

That's excellent and somehow never occurred to me. It's unfortunate that he's in the process of moving, because if he was just standing normally it would be even better.

Well I didn't really do the forehead smack cause I pay attention, but the moment where, in Trinity Blood, the Empress of the Vampire Empire reveals her true face could certainly be one.

They drop plenty of clues, but they could be missed XD

What's Eureka Seven *waits to be shot*

Nah, the reason Invader Zim got cancelled was...
Despite the show's popularity and extended fanbase ranging from kids to adults, the show was axed after the 9/11 tragedy. It was beleived that a show featuring a megalomaniacal alien attempting to destroy the world was 'too sensitive a subject' to be showing after the 9/11 attacks. Unfortunately the show was cut in the height of its popularity. Most fans of the show agree that using the 9/11 tragedy as an excuse to cancel the show was a bit underhanded, as well as a bit of overreaction. Invader Zim has not been picked up again and there are currently no indications of the show returning.

Note that there may be other reasons given for the show's cancellation, but supposedly the 9/11 tragedy was cited by Nickelodeon as the primary reason why the show was cut.

...But another reason is that Nickelodeon cut a lot of scenes from the original show, claiming it was "too bloody". Also, you can see the infamous "Bloody GIR" in some episodes. It's a faint watermark Jhonen used as a retort to Nickelodeon's scene cutting of the show.

All in all, I LOVED this show when it was on. I've always loved the creepy/paranormal/oddball/eccentric shows.

Really? I heard differently that the not-quite-so-infamous-as-Gir-covered-in-blood-epi-but-still-infamous "Girl who Cried Gnome" episode was never aired (you can get it on the uncut DVDs) because it depicted emergency workers which Nick deemed to be too sensitive after 9/11, while the show itself was canned because it wasn't hitting Nick's younger audience age demographic and/or inappropriate for younger kids. *shrugz* Then again you'd think Nick would've thought of that before commossioning Jhonen Vasquez to do a cartoon for them. >.>;;

That being so, I'd like to contribute one of my fav Gir quotes:

"It was ME! I was the turkey all alooong! It was MEEE!"

And...

"Itz got chicken legs... *hug*"

As for anime forehead smack moments, one of my favorites is Rio's well-timed, blow-a-serious-angsty-cliffhanger-moment, "Eyes... remember... you still owe me... my Christmas melon."

Oh, I just thought of another one from FMA! Hughes is talking to Mustang over the phone, saying something like this....

Hughes: You need to make allies, find people who will support you. And that's why...you need...A WIFE!!!!

*Mustang throws phone down*

Ooh, that reminds me when Hughes and Mustang are one the phone talking about his wifey being pregnant and how he's all worried that she may give birth while he's not there. Then Lt. Hawkeye burst in the room yelling that she doesn't think a baby can be born after that many (I forgot how many she said) months :P

That was hillarious! I was just watching that episode a few weeks ago! Hughes in that violet shirt was head smack enough! Hawkeye's exact words were:

"BABIES AREN'T BORN AFTER JUST 5 MONTHS!!!!"

...and that YouTube clip of Light's potato chip scene was hillarious!!! There's also a live action recreation of that scene that was just pure win!

Then there's that whole "Warehouse 13" thing in Ep. 36. Gosh, those guys are dumb. Then Roy finds a bone and makes the whole crew dig to find the supposed body of a soldier --then Black Hayate (sp?) walks out with a bone and buries it while they're all watching...Then Roy asks who's responsible for it all (not wanting to admit that he goofed). Crazy, man.

Awww man, I had a great one, but didn't want to double post.. and was to lazy to edit it into my previous post :P

Hmmm, lets see what it was... *thinks.. thinks.. thinks.. and thinks some more*

*Whacks head* Errrrrrr, what was it >_<

Ooh, here's one (not the one I had in mind tho).. In Love Hina, they're all talking about Tokyo U and Shinobu says she wants to go to Tokyo U to dig for gold or something like that :P Then Naru was like,"Don't you mean you want to go to Tokyo U to become a gold digger?" or something like that. It was in the manga, but not the anime u_u

Samurai Champloo- The Baseball game episode. Yes, this was trully one of my favorite episodes of SC because everyone kept getting badly injured in just one baseball game! And I remember the old man that was on their team had died.

 That was one of my favorite Samurai Champloo episodes, too! I especially laughed at the horrible accents. First there was that American with an OBVIOUS accent when speaking Japanese, and then there were people who were supposed to be Americans speaking English, but you could tell the voice actors were Japanese XD

I'm surprised to see so much approval of this episode. This and the zombie one struck me as the worst of the series, weak attempts at comedy because the writers were running out of steam. I suppose different senses of humor might find them funny, which does give them some intrinsic value.

As far as forehead-smacks-induced-by-how-unbelievable-something-is are concerned, (for me) Prince of Tennis wins the award in 2007. I've seen bizarre crazy-silly stuff in anime but it really took me a while to get used to:

1) physics-defying movements (e.g. acrobatic Kikumaru, Echizen's Cyclone Smash)
2) SuperSaiyan-like powercharge-ups (Echizen's done something like this - there's like,... swirling mist around him and huge winds fanning the whole court, I don't know what's going on but my jaw drops open at how unnecessarily dramatic it is)
3) funny-sounding movement names ("Sonic Serve" "Tornado Snake" "Tezuka Zonnneeeeeee") - OK, it's probably the English translations that make it sound funnier
4) how obsessed everyone is in being No. 1 in tennis (Does anyone do anything else apart from tennis? Do they even study anymore? I suppose, at least, we know that they eat.)

==> Gold Point: 5) how seriously injured some players get (shouldn't it be a crime or something to make someone bleed/suffer permanent injury??!!) I just can't believe how bloodied some of them get on the court.

Even after reading at least 100+ chapters of PoT, I still find myself thrown off by some new movement/action name/character behaviour. Don't get me wrong, I think I like Prince of Tennis. It's quite fun to read.

That's kinda why I like it too, and also it's not illegal to hit someone with the ball on purpose. It's just not usually done. (The only two are Ishida of Shitenhouji, and Kirihara Akaya of Rikkai Daigaku Fuzoku)

Samurai Champloo: I did find the baseball episode kind of funny, especially since it was so off-the-wall and ridiculous in that setting. But the zombie one was a bit much...
