Jet Li's Fearless - Unrated?

Postby rii namuras » Fri Sep 07, 2007 2:37 pm

(Are there any differences between the theater version of Fearless and the DVD version? My parents bought it, only to discover it was "unrated". However, both my mom and I looked around, and the only DVD's we can find for it are "unrated." And then at Circuit City's website, it had it listed as "PG-13," but it still had unrated on the cover.)

I've come to find (in my experience) that "unrated" is nothing more than a scam. The special features (if there are any) are unrated, but the actual movie isn't.

I've watched both the theatrical version and the unrated version and there IS one prominent difference. In one scene Jet Li kills a man by slicing his throat (if I remember correctly) and the unrated version shows a lot more blood in that scene. I think there may have been more blood in the restauraunt fight scene too.

I agree with beau99 that the whole unrated/directors cut thing is like a scam. Remember the Batman Beyond Return of the Joker video? They had a PG-13 version that got it just because of a little bit of blood. That's really strict.

If I'm right, the Dvd has both the theatrical version and the unrated version on it...I've only seen the Theatrical version though...

I must say though, this is probably one of the best martial arts films ever made, not only becuase of the action, but becuase of the central message that the martial arts are not about revenge...
