Recommend a good X-box game

Have a video game or or VG review? This is the place to to discuss it! We also accept discussions of board games and the like, but SHHH! Don't tell anyone, OK?

Yeah, but I was in before it was trendy.

The fact that I own an Xbox but neither Halo or Halo 2 has probably torn some gaping holes in the fabric of space-time and reality.

Eric, is Burnout: Revenge anything like Burnout 3? I think that was the one I played...I remember one where you had to crash into all these cars and cause these multi-million dollar crashes at insane speeds and I loved it.

Yeah, it uses the same basic formula but it's much better. It's a total blast to play multiplayer, especially when you unlock the cars that can go 200+ mph without using boost (like the rocket car), since that's when the sense of speed really kicks in. I really enjoy doing burning laps (where you do an entire lap using boost continuously) at top speed mostly driving on the wrong side of the road so no one can follow me.

Taking out other racers is insanely satisfying since there are so many ways you can do it, like slamming them into a side wall, pushing them off a cliff (usually into water), hitting the non-racing cars into them like you're playing pool, landing on top of them after going off a jump, and aftertouch takedowns (these are especially good once you get cars with a larger blast radius, and in the crash events you can even do multiple explosions).

It's really an amazing game that everyone who has an Xbox cannot afford not miss out on.

Also, Burnout Dominator (for PS2; $40) comes out tomorrow, which has more of a focus on racing rather than takedowns like Burnout: Revenge. Burnout 5 will available for the Xbox 360 and PS3 later this year.

They've got that Test Drive game for 360 that looks pretty cool. A persistant real time world in which you can drive up to other players at stoplights and challenge them to spontaneous races.

... You know, maybe I oughta pick that one up! But I oughta finish Just Cause and Chrome Hounds first... Aww... *slinks away*

That's funny, because Halo is one of the few things I AM interested in on xbox, and I don't even like FPS games... it's all because of I love bees. It drew me into the story. I have to see Halo 3 now to see if the ILB characters are going to end up in there, and how it all ends.

I'm suprised that no one has mentioned the Amped series (awesome snowboarding) or Star Wars: Jedi Academy! Those are AWESOME games!

By the way, Ninja Gaiden is only gay to those who lack the necessary gaming fortitude...

...and an extreme amount of patience. I find it to be a nod to the older ways of gaming, especially when it comes to bosses where you actually have to strategize and figure out a way to get around their attacks instead of just pounding into them with the biggest gun in your inventory.

Good viral marketing scheme, yes. But for the storyline? I don't understand what you mean by that.

I mean the story in the ILB (the jan / Kamal / Jersey / Rani / Durga / Herzog story) radio drama was 100x more interesting than the story in Halo, but it's what let me appreciate the story in Halo.

If you don't understand that I could have been interested in the ILB story, you obviously never listened to the radio drama. I cried a few times listening to it. There is so much story there, but it's barely touched on in the games so far.

I hope they include them in Halo 3, and take more from the books, because then the Halo 3 story will be awesome. The voice actress for Cortana said she was actually crying from some of the lines she did in her readings for Halo 3. They're making it more personal and more emotional. I hope that means it gets into the kidnapping of the children for Spartan 2.0 and some of what went on when they were on earth... The ILB creators had some inside knowledge about the Halo world, because there was some stuff in ILB that wasn't in Halo that showed up in Halo 2. I'm hoping they bring it all together. The novels, the ILB radio drama, and the games.

Oh woah I forgot Burnout!! That one is really fun to play with friends on "see who can make the biggest crash" mode. All the other parts are boring normal old racing.

XDD *sets up bomb shelter* Good luck with your game hunting Ash!

There is nothing "boring" about any of Burnout's game modes. Maybe you just suck at racing?

Not to be taken seriously:

Or perhaps (call me crazy) just maybe someone on this planet has a differing opinion on something than you?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyways, the Halo franchise is nothing more to me than an FPS with aliens and a decent story.

Now, multiplayer mode...That's a party!

((Expects some to come in and say, "Don't worry, Tom. No one takes you seriously anyway."))

Many people will say that certain aspects of a particular game are boring because they suck at it and don't want to admit it; making that excuse protects their ego. I've seen this happen many times. I'm not just throwing out random crap here, you know.

Unless you also suck at crashing. Getting just the right crash in Burnout can be an art in and of itself. ^-^

It's amazing how the very second you -have- to do something, it can become more difficult than when you were doing it on accident. Really, it is. *grins*

Good to know I sparked an interesting conversation! XD I don't know if that's how guys do it - making up excuses that it's "boring" when they suck at something - but I'm a girl and generally girls have an easier time admitting they aren't good at something, especially at video games. For instance, I'm not all that amazing at Halo, but I still love playing it. It's a lot of fun. I don't really like racing games in general because I think they're boring. Burnout was fun for me because it was something different and I enjoyed the crash mode. I'm sorry I didn't find the rest of the game as exciting.

There are a few DDR games for the Xbox and I keep thinking that you are a DDR fan, so try those.

This is a normal modeled X-box, correct?
Not a 360?

Sorry, but I'm just obsessed with Rainbow Six: Vegas and I thought I had to say something about it somewhere. XD

I personally don't have an xbox (I like to think of my self as a nintendo purist), but I have played KOTOR on the pc. I agree with everyone who has said it before me: it is a superawesome game. A must buy.

I have also played the Burnout 2 on my GC, and that caused untold amounts of damage, errrm I mean fun.

I haven't had an xbox for long, but these are games that I own or have played that I consider top notch.

The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind
(THE open ended RPG, and one of my favorite games ever. It's kinda buggy, but sometimes one must bear small inconveniences to enjoy a masterpiece ;) ).

Guilty Gear X2
(A 2D fighter that is anime inspired and has a pretty cool take on the fighting genre. Also one of my favorites.)

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance
(A D&D style RPG that supports 2 players. I quite enjoy multiplayer RPG's and found this one to be most satisfactory)

Already mentioned games that I second:
Burnout 3
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
Fusion Frenzy
Jade Empire
Fable
Metal Slug (arcade style side scrolling shoot-em-up)
