Just a question.

Is it okay to put in the list. Since it was really anime?

It counts, because it was only based on an anime. The series which we all know was American-produced.

"We all know?" Speak for yourself, friend. :p I'm 25, and the Voltron I watched as a kid was completely anime. Perhaps a young'n like yourself is thinking of the 3D Voltron crap that WAS American produced, but for older guys like me, the original Voltron was totally anime, and I would suppose doesn't count given this thread is about American cartoons.

You should take a look at the Wikipedia article then.

There were two 1970's-era anime that have the same plot, but the Voltron that aired in the 1980's was 100 percent American-produced.

Um...YOU should take a look at the Wikipedia article. Though the series was edited for American TV, the American Voltron IS the anime Golion. To quote the article:

"The anime was dubbed and strung together by North American television production and distribution company World Events Productions. The series was not a straight dub, however, as much of the violence of the original Japanese series was removed (among other things)."

But no new footage was produced for the cartoon. It's like a One Piece situation, the anime had the offensive stuff removed and other various plot changes, but it wasn't an American production.

The ONLY American produced Voltron in the 80s was The Fleet of Doom, which DID have new footage produced, but it was a one-time TV special, and so hardly counts, because most people that talk about Voltron are talking about the series, not the one-time TV special.
