To read their lyrics, its not exactly like what they have absolutely nothing useful to say - its more a result of their failing to understand the lamb of God of both the Gospels and Revelation's response to evil, and have concieved that the only possibility for justice emerges from their own acts of violence in the absense of the assurance that "Thus saith the Lord, Vengeance is mine, I will repay".

You can't really take the lyrics online for "New American Gospel" seriously. The lyrics in the book of that album and the lyrics that are actually on that album are different. I do like the album, though Lamb of God is definitely not a christian band, and their lyrics aren't very positive at all.

I never actually made a judgement of those lyrics, placing them here for the combination of their lack of profanity and thematic consistency with other songs.

Hahaha I never get tired of is "Lamb of God" christian? I remember going to Cedar Point with my youth group and a guy in one of the que lines had a Lamb of God shirt on and one of the people in our groups was like "Hey, look at his shirt! I never heard of that band before! He must be Christian!". I laughed and told them Lamb of God is a very non-christian band.

They aren't bad as far as metalcore/hardcore/variablecore/that bloated genre goes. I've heard that question a lot, too. It's funny.

I'm pretty much a detatched observer to all this, and I always wonder why they chose the imagery from John's Gospel and Revelation.

They really have. I'm all for some brutality occasionally, and Lord knows I love me some hardcore, but after a while, it kind of gets into the whole "diminishing returns" thing. You can only chugga-chugga-blast beat so many times.

I'd rather listen to some good ol' hard punk rock (a la Showbread/Refused/etc.) or grindcore nowadays on the heavy side of things. At least they know that they're just making noise.

You know, I honestly disagree with this. I don't claim to be a heavy metal fan at all, so I'm probably just biased but I think a lot of it is boring without some of the hardcore mixed in. I just think the genre (metalcore) as a whole has become so bloated that it's kind of hard to tell the difference between anything anymore.

Yea hardcore bands suffer from the curse of writting the same sounding song over and over again. Only a few bands break from that curse.

I really tend to question the whole "Explicit" thing being used like you use it. Its like the KMFDM album that responded to its "Explicit" sticker by posting the definitions:

Explicit:
1. fully and clearly expressed or demonstrated; leaving nothing merely implied; unequivocal:
2. clearly developed or formulated

Its a lot like the EBM band Tactical Sekt (subproject of an Aslan Faction member), whose "explicit" lyrics go something like this:

What these lyrics certainly do not have anything to do with is "I want to break down the family and corrupt the youth into harmful lifestyles", if anything they are quite the opposite. They are however certainly extreme and "explicit" as the definitions posted above have it.

hmm... thanks for your help!!! yeah, i was always so confused with their name, i was like, LAMB OF GOD, hmmm. sounds christian. i never knew anything about them at all.
hmmm... so yeah. i guess i should stay away from them.

someone told me they werent christian.... i thought they were... and i just want to make sure...
