I come from a land down under

Postby jieshi » Tue Aug 15, 2006 9:02 pm

Hey guys! How is it going?

I'm Jieshi and I come from Sydney, Australia. I have been a christian for about 16 years, I live in a Christian family and I love Japan and most things that are affiliated with the culture, especially anime!

It was great to find this site as being a Christian the world of anime and manga can get dodgey pretty quickly if you don't look in the right places (and it is sort of hard to talk to my christian friends about anime without someone cracking a joke)

I speak an intermediate level of Japanese as I lived there for all of last year as an exchange student- learned it, loved it, lived it.....and now I deseperately want to return.

My other hobbies include Martial arts- I practiced Kendo for a year and I also have experience in Karate and Taekwondo.
I also love music- playing guitar, listening and singing

Hope to get to know you all!

God bless,

Jieshi :thumb:

G'day fellow Aussie! Welcome!

I just went to Japan in July this year for a mission trip (it was the hottest winter I've experienced :P). 'Twas awesome though.

Hello, my aussie friends! I was just in Adelaide.

Good to see you here! I'm new myself, but I shall offer my welcome here nonetheless! (For what it's worth ^_^;;)

As to the starting a church in Japan, they need it. Especially rural Japan, around Hokkaido.

[What I thought was awesome is that in Sapporo, an old buddhist monastery was turned into a Christian monastery. They kept the buddhist outfit of the monastery, but now a completely different religion. Very awesome.]
God creates out of nothing. Wonderful, you say. Yes, to be sure, but he does what is still more wonderful: he makes saints out of sinners.

Whaa..?? Why didn't you drop in to say hi?
Adelaide has a small international airport.

Anyway, why were you here? I'm interested because I've never heard of any CAAers from Adelaide or who have visited here... (termyt almost did..)

Also, it's funny that just an hour or two earlier I was listening to a CD by jieshi's church...

hehe. I was in Adelaide for sheer vacation. My father travels around the world on a regular basis, so he racks up tons of frequent flyer miles. Then he gives them to me [grumbling about how he's tired of the world]!

Anyway, I spent two weeks or so in Adelaide, Port Augusta, and around Australia. Parts of nullarbor plain was beautiful. Never made it to Sydney or Melbourne; Sigh. I did go to Christchurch, NZ. I am in love with New Zealand now. Funny thing is that I've never learned the meaning of that city's name! Is everyone extremely religious there? Hehe, one can hope.

ALAS! I could not have recognised you. I just joined yesterday. ^_^;

Jieshi! Wow! Another Aussie, and one in Sydney too! So is that the Christian City Church in Oxford Falls? I have an ex-colleague from work who goes there.

I go to this non-denominational church in Strathfield. Anyway, awesome to see a fellow Aussie join the forum!

Jieshi, good to see you mate! We always need another Aussie around (I'm one myself). I went on the mission trip to Japan with Sam (Warrior4Christ) also. Good times. There is a desperate need for Christian mission work over there.

Mushishi, you were just in Adelaide? Awesome. Should have caught up and said 'Hi.'
