I'm sorry to hear that you've had such a bad experience with Christians and anime. Well, anyhow, welcome! I hope you have a good time!

People who write below their abilities in order to crank out tons of books and make a buck. Especially Christian authors who do that. Outsiders judge us for it, and make fun of us for it, and it makes Jesus look bad. We of all artists on earth should be the most concerned with doing our best possible work at all times. We of all people should write with all our hearts, as if writing for the Lord and not for men.

Why is it that a lot of people think anime is porn? Isn't it wierd? I was browsing on the Internet a couple months ago and found a petition banning anime...made by Christians too. They gave examples of some hentai...that's what they should be banning, not anime...but this probably deserves a different thread.

Welcome, have fun, and...yeah. :jump:

Howdy new people! Watch out for Ashley...she is one meaaaan Texan. (joke)
Um...just to respond to this post a while back...

"You can't read or watch Harry Potter, you can't watch Pokemon, and now...all of anime suddenly become evil and must be banned?
those stupid christians! "

Now yes I think sometimes people take things to far...but who are we to bash the convictions of others? (Personaly I hate Harry Potter...not because of the blatent scocery involved...or magic or other "stuff" but because it is literary garbage IMO) "Stupid Christians"....um...not sure I would ever want to hurl that statement around. Confused..perhaps...but thats family in Christ your talking about. Anyway...try to ignore ignorance directed at anime and such..it will always be there...its there on music...anime...books...everything. When we begin to attack people for there convictions....we are becoming as bad as they are for forcing there convictions on us...just food for thought. :)

I heard my name mentioned...
*glares at mainer* Aaaanyway, hey Benu. Yeah, like everyone's mentioned, sadly Christians can be easily swayed at declaring something evil when they don't understand it, and don't want to either. Anime's not their first target nor their last, and while some of it's well founded...some of it is just paranoia, IMO. But like Steve said, you can't force your convictions on other Christians, that's just as bad. Voice them, perhaps, but not force them. Anyway, welcome aboard!

Hey there. You'll find the people here fairly easy going. As for RL, all I can really say is to stand your ground.
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.
