I saw an episode on Speed (the racing channel) I was shocked to see it there... I mean, that's like seeing, oh, Princess 9 on ESPN...

*waves hand* I do, I do! I liked that show as a kid...as odd as they may sound from a girl. I wasn't exactly addicted to it, but I remember it. And I liked Racer X. ^^

Yeah I got the 12 ep set too... from walmart for about 10 bucks.
I always loved it and the cars inspired me so much...it was so cool. And I thought Racer X was the best charachter.

yeah the VActing ws atrocious but... it was made in 1966! I used to rent them constantly when I was a kid too... BTW does anyone know about the new(er) speed racer movies?

Speed Racer ROCKED! I got the DVD at Wal-Mart with the 12 eps. that other people have mentioned.
I would say though, the voice acting is goofy and badly timed. but that adds to the hilarity.
There was a movie released in the early nineties that was just the first three episodes put together.
However, there was a really cool new iteration of Speed Racer on Nickelodeon for a little while. It was called Speed Racer X and was a modern update of the old show. That was really cool, but I never recorded it, so I dont have any episodes. It seemed like it was done by the people in charge of Gundam 0083.

I own the volume 1 DVD set. Good ol' fashoned cartoon it is. My favorite episodes have to be the ones where Speed races the Car Acrobatic Team.
And the show's got a catchy tune.
The show also features the worlds very first Trunk Monkey.

Speed Racer was definitely a significant part of my early youth. I remember watching that show in the mornings when school was out. I couln't have been older then ten. We didn't know what anime was back then - it was a cartoon like any other as far as we knew. Only they talked strangely.

the only thing i remember about speed racer, was the little brother crawling into the trunk of the mach 5 with his monkey....but i think i liked it when i watched it....it's been a while though

I watched it too! Heck I even reviewed it for this site! Oh, and the live-action version was a good movie. I enjoyed it. They were very faithful to the source material.

I loved that episode! And they even talked really fast like in Speed Racer, which made it even better.

I did see an episode or two of this, but I didn't watch it regularly. I do like it though, despite its low quality VActing. Oh well, IMO its a classic!
