The MP3 and CD

Postby Puguni » Fri Jul 07, 2006 10:34 am

Since Mp3s are growing in popularity, would it be possible in the future for singers and bands to just focus on making a few hit songs instead of a whole CD worth of mediocre songs?

More often than not, people buy CDs for the one song they heard on the radio. I think if musical artists were to focus on making a few good songs, it would be beneficial. Besides, it's an uncommon artist whose CD is good all over.

What do you think?

That sounds rather like a good idea, but then again, there are those that love different songs and maybe they dont just like the song they play on the radio but alot of the other ones that the CD has, it may be best just to keep the CDs. Usually people that just want the one song have a computer or know how to get to one to add it to their ipod or whatnot anyways.

I have an MP3 player, but I still like to listen to whole CD's most of the time. I'll take a quality album over a radio hit any day.

If you look past the mainstream, you will generally find that there is an abundance of quality cds out there.

I have found some cds that contain all good songs, but it is rare. I have boughten cds just for one song, mostly because I don't have an mp3 player yet. Artists cannot truly be called artists if they only write a few hit songs and don't put their heart and soul into a complete cd.

Honestly, I'm on the fence. For some bands, I like their radio hits and that's it (i.e: Switchfoot), and then there's other bands that I like their other stuff but not their radio hits (i.e: Sanctus Real). But I can understand not appreciating filler songs when they make up about three-fourths of their album. *coffcoffMXPXcoffcoff*

But then again, I'm waiting for bands to just release MP3 sticks instead of CDs.

Well, considering the fact that I like almost every song on the CD's I own (and also considering the fact that I don't own an MP3 player yet...XD), I can't really say I like the idea. Then again, a lot of what I listen to isn't what's in the mainstream or on the radio, so maybe that's why...XD;
