City of Heroes

Postby GhostPoet » Fri Jul 08, 2005 11:47 am

Anyone here play it? It's an mmorpg.

Something my wife and I are truely addicted to. We already have 16 characters and a fantastic SG group...

For those of you who havn't played it...

It's an online game where you play with THOUSANDS of other people much like Everquest too...only it has to do with superheroes. You create your own hero from scratch, giving him various powers and of course a completely unique look...there is a 1% chance you will ever meet up with someone who looks like you. :) Then you can do missions against groups of enemies alone or with a group of 8 people max...you can also join Supergroups where you can make good friends and allies to fight evil.

By far the best mmorpg out there today.

I did for a while, but I play Guild Wars now because I couldn't justify paying 15 bucks a month to play a couple hours a week.

A number of people played it in my guild last year. It lost interest though and it never became one of our "official" games. And I had a friend that played it. I just don't have the will, the time, or the patience to play MMO's anymore. After Everquest, Asheron's Call, Earth and Beyond, Planetside, SWG, Final Fantasy XI, and World of Warcraft I'm done with MMO's for good.

I would probably never play anything like that, but I admit it sounds cool. ^^

I started writing a story about people who lived in a superhero world, which was an online game (of sorts). So I guess I like the idea.

Yeah that is pretty much the only thing I play on the PC anymore. That and console games.

Do you have a particular server you go on? I like TacticalGamer...but been playing ranked for the most part lately. DFRsquad is usually pretty good.

Doh! Dang man, where is my brain today?? huh? Tell me!! :P

Did you guys end up downgrading the server back to the pre-patch?
I havn't had any trouble with the patch..but I see quite a few servers have pushed back to pre-patch...

Yes because otherwise because of EA's stupid mistakes we would keep getting memory leaks and then it would crash every other game or so. Annoying as heck so yeah forgot to mention that we're back at version 1.0 for the time being. And since all the DICE guys are on vacation it will be awhile before that memory leak with hosting servers on 1.1 is fixed.:eyeroll:

I'm on CoH on Pinnacle, and CoV on Infinity. I've pretty much played every MMORPG known. Still have my original EQ beta cd.... :)

Hey Arizona, I'm on YJ too. What's your name on there?

I just recently got this game, and I really love it. I've only got one character right now, Mynik Tracer, on the Liberty server, but I can only play during the weekends right now.

Plus, I've only got one account and me and my brother are sharing, so eventually I'll probably get my own account and I'll have to redo my chars.

I had to cancel my account for the time as I needed to cut my bills, and have been generally too busy with other stuff to invest much time in it. But, I really miss it though. =(

I just started playing this game. It's my brother's really, but I will get my own account at some point.

You can catch me as Miyu Fumizuki on Liberty server.

Bonus points if you know where I got that name from.

Sweet! Liberty's the server with all my heroes on it. What level is Miyu anyway?

She's a level 6 Tanker. If I can get CoH running on my laptop (big if), I'll start my own account apart from my brothers and I’ll have to start over, though.

I had to do that too when I got my bro's account, but it's not too bad getting back where you were if you can team up with friends.

Anyway, it's nice to hear that there's another person playing now. I'll keep an eye out for ya.

Excellent. If you want to team with me, let me know who you are. I decline most offers. Pretty female tankers are in great demand and my results in teaming haven't been the best. So far, I've been abandoned twice in the sewers.

Although, the second time, three of the team stayed with me and we made it out just fine. I'm sure those who ran for it appreciated the fact that three of us stayed behind and finished off the bad guys for the XP and enhancements.

Oh yeah! Forgot about that. Let's see, you're lvl 6... the best char to team with you is probably Eyara or Tae'lena. Oh, once we find each other, we should make eachother global friends so we don't have to search for each other.

Yeah, I've gotten on some pretty stupid teams before, they're a real nuisance. I remember being in one group where one of the guys just kept charging forward. He apparently thought using rest was stupid and liked to dive into frays. I was kinda glad when that team disbanded. I usually stick with teaming with my bro or someone from the SG now.
