This is my old review from the old boards
Iria – Zeiram the Animation (6 Episode miniseries)
Genre: Sci-fi/action
Iria is an apprentice to her big brother, Gren, the bounty hunter. Iria followed him on a mission that would change both of their lives forever. What started out to be the simple rescue of the crew of the Karma (a spaceship) turned out to be stopping the entire human race from being annihilated. (How typical of anime) On board the ship is an invincible life form – a Zeiram. This creature wants to do nothing except kill and clone its victims. Gren sends Iria off the Karma, then blows the ship up with him and Zeiram inside. Iria crashes to a planet and meets two street kids. Meanwhile, a falling star is headed right towards them . . .
Positive Points: The animation is spectacular. The character designs, environment, and culture are all very rich. The main character, Iria, must learn responsibility as she has gone from protected one to protector.
Negative Points: Some of the dubbing is kinda crappy, like they will repeat themselves a couple times, or say something right out of the blue that doesn’t pertain to anything. There are also two cases of "implied nudity." You know, like on soap commercials, they just barely cover up in time kind of thing. - I think - to be honest, I never watched close enough to see if they actually showed something. The possiblity is there. Also, there is one bare bum shot.
Spiritual Content: None either way.
Sexual Content: The a-for mentioned wrinkles in an otherwise almost perfect anime
Language: Mild, milder than a lot of PG movies.
Violence: The villian is a really creepy guy that loves carnage. Of course there is violence. Where it is not overly gory, blood does fly around on a few points and is prone to be seen in large puddles on the floor.
Summary: If you are in the mood to be thoroughly impressed with a beautiful (yet short) anime, watch Iria at all costs. Because of the two stray, off colored comments, the shower scenes, and the blood, I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone under, well, thirteen.
Rating: PG-13
**** 4/5
