He was doing some scrolls, true, but he took diversion whenever he cared to. Even Benawi was positively dejected by Hakuoro shirking his duties.

But,see, like I said before, he has just Now become Emporer, and as such he isn't used to the grueling workload that it usally expected from an Emporer. It is understandable that Benawi would be a little annoyed, but Hakuoro is doing a pretty decent job considering the circumstances...
He just won over the nation,
he deserves a break

I watched ep 8 like last week on Youtube... but I miss this show (if any) in good quality^^ My other series don't have AS much action in it, so I can watch them in lower quality on Youtube... since now I have a comp space problem instead of a bandwith problem^^ I'll try to watch 9 soonish though! Tomorrow if possible.

Watched ep 9 last night. Good stuff, but I really can't think of anything to say. Want ep 10.

Yes, please do! Heh, I had to sort of advertise it some before I noticed anyone getting into it^^ Now the topic is for the few of us who are watching it^^

Just watched ep 9 (seemed sooo short. You know when you're right into an anime when...) and yeah it's good. I'm still waiting for the last 2 characters to make an appearance (Karura/Carla and the other female fighter with the longer ears, both shown on the opening).

I just watched Ep. 9. i agree with you, Triezgamer, There really isn't much to say about that eps. The taboo part of it I thought was going to be somewhat MORE awesome than what it actually ended up being.
I thought it was gonna give KAhuoro special powers... or make his armies never have to eat, drink, breath, etc. be invincible or invisible
The next ep. Looks like its going to have much more fanservice though... <_<

Heh nope! It was just
a bomb :/ So it wasn't really "da domb" (although I've always hated that phrase...
Fanservice coming up? Mou -_-' I stopped watching anime previews LOOOOOONG ago when I realized just how much it gave away (especially if they show you the title, which sometimes contain the death of a character in it. Nooo of COURSE it's not giving anything away!) I'll probably be sitting like this -_-... throughout the "fun" eps :/

Basically sums it up :/ I mean it's one of those shows where the plot isn't really given to you right away, and if I explain the basic plot up until now, it would actually spoil it :/

And hmm... I can't really explain the basic plot^^ You just sort of have to see it for yourself^^ (Usually plot sums were only made from the first ep involving Mutikapa-Sama who wasn't a main character). So yeah...

Yaay~! Finally got around to watching episode 8! *is ashamed that it took this long...XD;; ) Anyways!
Kamyu is SO cute!! I think she's one of my new favorite characters; I hope she shows up again soon, along with Munta and Urutorii! Also, I was sad for Eruruu too, when Hakuoro said she was like a sister...Awww. I enjoyed the lighter feel this episode had, though, like Haku signing the huge pile of scrolls. XD Poor guy, he wakes up with no memories, and the next thing you know, he's led an army and become emporer without blinking twice. XD
Anyways, I need to watch 9 tonight, but I've got 10 torrenting right now, so hopefully I'll be back to where I need to be in this series. XD

Erm...New post! I watched both 9 and 10!
I've come to the realization that Aruruu can make friends with just about anyone and anything. XD Karura looks pretty cool, though some of the scenes and camera angles with her in the spotlight were a bit...unnecessary. Not too unexpected, though. Anyways, the girl in the OP with the purple-ish hair seems like she'll be making her appearance in episode 11...That'll be cool! I'm also wondering if Karura and Urutorii know each other from somewhere. They seemed to, at least.
Anyways, can't wait for episode 11! Though I do wish the main story would kind of pick up soon...:)

Yeah with ep 10
looks like I finally got to meet my anime counterpart^^ (aka, character that has my roomanji name). She sure is interesting... I wonder why she mercilessly killed the crew. I mean, yeah, they DID try and sell her as a slave and all, but looked like she had a really violent streak to her when she did...
...she has a tiny tail
Yea about that...
She was like crazy... and she scared me when she killed ALL of them. Why on earth did she and the winged character (sorry I'm bad with names  ) look at each other like that... <_<... freaky. Now she has an indestructable weapon... let's hope she doesn't become a renegade!
Comments on #10:

Isn't it tragic to live in a world where there is a direct correlation between strength and muscle mass?

This show has some of the most ham-handed fanservice in the history of the world. I could understand stuff like this from Ranma 1/2 or Project A-ko but in a drama like this it's just jarring and weird.

Fate/Stay Night is even worse than that respect. It is also somewhat of a drama too.

Actually, the "nursing" scene in episode 5 was pretty horrible.

Just be glad that Aruruu isn't wearing a BDSM outfit. God forbid.

Apparently you've never seen Elfen Lied then :/ VERY serious show with the violence and psychologicalness of it meant to be taken seriously, with random fanservice to "lighten the mood" for bad comedy :/

And it wasn't jarring and weird in Elfen Lied? I have yet to talk to anybody who seriously thinks these elements enhance the quality of the production.

The strange thing about that show, though, was that it had more excessive elements, but they bugged me much less. I guess it seemed more in character because of the premise's somewhat legitimate reliance on shock value. The fanservice in Utawarerumono feels much more random, even if it isn't nearly as over-the-top. I imagine it going something like this...

Script-writing session for Utawarerumono...

WRITER: That's all well and good, but I think we need to do more to emphasize the conflict Hakuoro is feeling as he takes on his new responsibilites as-

EGG TIMER: BING!

WRITER: Whoop! There goes the fanservice timer!

OTHER WRITER: Let's have Eruruu ogle somebody and get flushed again.

WRITER: Good idea. It's been at least ten minutes since we brazenly highlighted her sexual vulnerability.

EDITOR: (bursts through door) Guys, I've been going over the script for Episode #10 and I think there's a slim chance that the viewers might forget the enormity of Karura's chest.

WRITER: Geez, Marty! One thing at a time here!

Well, talk to me then. I will admit that some of the fanservice in Elfen Lied is unneccessary, but I do feel that a majority of it is necessary, and I wouldn't mind having a discussion about it via PMs.
