MSN Messenger causing computer to freeze (Virus)?

Sorry to create another topic in the computing forum, but I think I've found my problem. Why would my computer lock up while I'm using MSN Messenger? Everytime I'm talking to someone and working on something else at the same time, it locks up.

Does anyone else have this problem? Or have you had the problem?
Because I really want to fix it...Because I'm probably starting to come off as a jerk when I suddenly leave without saying I'm leaving or anything.
