I got back from the show in Madison a few hours ago. Ion Dissonance was unable to be there because their visas had expired and they had to go back to Canada. :sniffle:

The first band that played was Hewhocorrupts. I only got to hear the last two songs they played because I was pretty far back in the line when they were letting people in. I couldn't really get into them because I couldn't tell what the heck was going on in their music; it was just a wall of noise. I didn't take any pictures of them.

Next up was Job For A Cowboy. Freaking awesome. Didn't have any sound problems and they played perfectly.

Next was Alarum. This was my favorite set of the night, probably because they combine jazz and death metal, which are two of my most favorite types of music. They came all the way from Australia. I could hear all the instruments very well, and they played a lot of my favorite songs. After the concert was over, I went to the merch area and talked to Mark Palfreyman (vocals/6-string bass) for a while. He's a really nice and friendly guy, very very cool. He said they're almost finished with their next album, and that they'd definitely like to come up here again sometime. I also talked to him about Psycroptic (who is also from Australia), and he said they'd probably tour the U.S. sometime too (I saw a guy there with a Psycroptic shirt, which reminded me to talk to him about them). We also discussed Psycroptic's new cd and how I liked their new vocalist compared to their old one. I somehow managed to forget to ask him if he likes Virgin Black. :hits_self They were very appreciative when I bought one of their shirts. It's a real shame that so few people checked out their merch table and talked to them. :(

Next was Arsis. They started off with about 7 or 8 minutes of A Diamond for a Disease. Very good song. :thumb: After the next song, the mic stopped working for a while so they played part of another song without vocals, but it did get fixed before too long. My only complaints about their set was the mic problem and that the lead guitar was very hard to hear for the most part, and that was a huge disappointment for me because that's the best part about them. :( I also bought an A Diamond for a Disease shirt. I talked to their rythm guitarist (I forget his name) in the bathroom after the concert for a little while.

Next was Animosity. Pretty much the same deal as JFAC. No real complaints here, except that their drummer's china had a huge chunk out of it and one of his splash cymbals was bent really badly in a few places. It was a very good performance overall.

Necrophagist finished the night up. As expected, everyone went crazy when they started playing and all throughout their set. They were absolutely amazing and played flawlessly, although at times it was a bit hard to hear what was going on during the really fast and complex parts, but the sheer intensity of it all more than made up for that. I really gotta give props to Muhammed for being able to play as well as he does and do vocals that you can actually understand at the same time.

I took pictures with a disposable camera, but I can get a free photo cd when I get the film developed, so I will post links to the pictures once I have them uploaded.

That's awesome. Unfortunately, the only one I've heard on that list is Job For a Cowboy, but they're really good.
I'm a shoe-in for hater of the year.
