Anger!

Postby Azier the Swordsman » Sat Jan 17, 2004 5:59 pm

It really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, ticks me off when my character dies! :mutter: :bang:  :comp:

To the point I sometimes get really, really angry when I keep losing repeatedly. I'm curious, does any one else get angry when playing games, and how do you control it?

I stop playing, give the controller to my sister, and do this: :bang: Lather, rinse, repeat. OK, well, it's only sorta like that...:P

BOOSTER: Hey, No.1! Where's my cake?!
SNIFIT 1: Booster, Sir! There's a 70% chance the object you're standing on is a cake.

People who write below their abilities in order to crank out tons of books and make a buck. Especially Christian authors who do that. Outsiders judge us for it, and make fun of us for it, and it makes Jesus look bad. We of all artists on earth should be the most concerned with doing our best possible work at all times. We of all people should write with all our hearts, as if writing for the Lord and not for men.

I just stand up, jump up and down, and throw the controller every where, sit down and continue playing the game.

I usely save the game and cut it off. Then, play a game with explosives on easy mode. After that, I try again.

A few games have driven me to colorful language (never thrown a controller... Mom would have killed me years ago if I had done that, or maybe when... all those blank spaces....)

Anyway... best thing is to put it away and walk away. Anger management is the same for just about anything, most of it is changing your state of mind. Best thing to do is distance yourself from it.

I played DK64 on my N64... rented it the first time around and boy did that game tick me off... I don't think I've ever cussed at a TV as much in my life (it wasn't pretty)... later I bought it (was cheaper buying it pre-owned for the expansion memory than even a used on at EB)... since finished the game, and one of the hardest mini-games became fun....

i get angry for about half a second, then try again. repeat until i get good enough to finish that section of the game.

last time such a thing happened was... in Ironstorm i believe. i was supposedly to finish this mission with only a knife, and it took me... ten or so hours to finish it. well, i did it, and i'm happy.

I've become angry with a game many times. I suppose those most recent one would be Soul Calibur 2. Even though it is one of my favorite games, a few of the weapon master mode missions made me mad.

When I get mad, I usually do nothing, or slam the controller against the nearest hard surface (floor, chair arm, etc.). Unfortunately, I have broken 5 or 6 PS1/2 controllers this way. It was getting expensive, so now I keep an nonfunctional controller around so that I can smash it to my heart's content without worrying about breaking it.

The worst ever anger-inducing game for me was Street Fighter Alpha 2: Gold. I would play as Akuma, and then get beaten time after time by Gen on the last stage. That one made me so made that I would hit my PS1, and my tv. As I recall, I actually broken my tv thanks to that one. Anyway, I'm much better at SF now, so I don't have that problem.

I throw the controller. Oooh, and I yell. A lot. Sometimes some pretty colorful words come outta my mouth.

Just yesterday, I encountered the most frustrating thing I've seen in a while. Anyone remember that part in Chrono Trigger when you're on Death Peak and the little thingy tells you "it's slippery"? *curse, yell, spit* >o<

I throw the TV and the game console out the nearest window...

Just kidding, heh.

I have been extremely angry at frustrating parts of games before but I never do anything I'll regret later (even though I may have felt like it  ).

That would be the one.... though it wasn't the only place in the game that I got upset... it was on the top of the list.

I learned my anger lessons the hard way. There's nothing quite like looking at the cracked and speckled screen of your gameboy after you smash it over your knee because Mario fell down the hole for the 18th time. I felt so dumb!

Then, when playing Sparkster on the SNES, I got so mad I twisted the controler so hard the card inside of it broke.

My latest lesson was the other day with DDR. I was in endless mode on DDR MAX 2 and then completely messed up a song and my record. I jumped off the beat pad and snapped the power off while it was saving to the card - effectively wiping off all my DDR data. Oops. I had to go back and unlock all the songs again.

If you think I have a temper problems with video games, you should see me in sports. There was a good reason why #34 always had 5 fouls next to it on the scoreboard. Oh, but I only got carded once in soccer.

I run a katana through my television and game system/computer, then buy new ones.

Actually, I barely do anything, at least the first few times. I'm a pretty calm person. Some games, though, drive me nuts. If I've died ten or twelve times, I might slam a fist on a table or the like.

Speaking of frustrating games: Battletoads. I have it on emulator and I've gotten very far, but now I'm stuck on that level where you have to race the rats to the bombs. The third rat... I put the game in 1/6 real time and played it absolutely perfectly, and I still lose. Due to this, I stopped playing. Does anyone know any solutions?

I did that... After I realized that it was broken, I also sprayed bug spray inside the cartridge slot, to see what would happen.

Dying doesn't bother me near as much as the jumping/stacking/findtheyellowsatanicwingdingkey puzzles. One time I ripped my Playstation clean out of the shelf it was on.
