Longest manga series you've collected?

Postby rocklobster » Thu Apr 06, 2006 6:30 pm

Now let's see how it stands for manga! Manga is often longer than anime in terms of volumes, so how long are you willing to go? Oh and for you Trigun Maximum fans out there, this can count as all one series, since the only thing that changed was the name.

Ranma 1/2 is up to volume 33 or 34 now. I think it's getting close to the end.

DNAngel, at 9, is the current contender, but I assure you I will get ALL 7 of the Full Moon series.

...okay, so those aren't very big numbers, but they are compared to the rest of my collection!

Fruits Basket at 13 volumes is the largest of two manga series I own, the other being Azumanga Daioh with 4 volumes. Admitted, I don't own much Manga, but I make up for it with my regular book collection. :P

I have 21 volumes of Yugioh so far, out of 38.

I think in the end the longest manga series I'll own is Pokemon Special. Volume 22 of the series brings it up to the end of the Ruby/Saphire saga, and then they have to start on the Emerald and Fire Red/Leaf Green arcs, and THEN they'll be moving on to Diamond/Pearl and possibly Ranger + arcs based on any other main Pokemon games that get released. It could never end! ^_^.

Detective Conan/Case Closed - 10 out of 50 (according to anime news network there are currently 50)

Rurouni Kenshin - 25 out of 28

Kindaichi Case Files - 3 out of 27

I had no idea there were that many volumes of Conan - o_O my poor wallet appreciates that it will be a few years before they're all released in the US.

And I'd have more Kindaich volumes, except that none of the stores in my area carry them, and there are other series that are higher on my priority list for the time being.

Yeah, I've been wanting to try Kindaichi Case Files, but I can never find Volume 1 in stores.

Anyway, my longest manga series is, unfortunately, every volume of Mixx's poor translation of the Sailor Moon manga. I really wish someone would rerelease it with a better translation but I may as well hold my breath there.

Otherwise, the only series I've collected are Azumanga Daioh and what's been released of Yotsuba&!

Probably Fruits Basket and Rurouni Kenshin, which I don't own all of yet. Wait, how many volumes are in Full Metal Alchemist?

Oh! Sensei or not-- we must vote you off the island for such an oversight!

*sigh*

Too bad we don't have an island. . . ;)
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I got so far behind in Ruroken, I just gave up. I'm up to the "East Sea Road' volume, and I have 2-12 of Fruits Basket, 1-3 of Tsuabasa, 1 of More Starlight for your Heart, and 1 of Desert Coral.

For me, it's Please Save My Earth. I'm almost a third of the way through the 21-volume epic. BTW, you can always check out this link for manga comparisons.

I think I just knocked you down 3 belts for that comment, padawan.

And now for something ON topic, this is the #1 reason I can't imagine anyone buying a series without getting to know it first--I'd HATE to get 4 or 5 volumes into a series and then discover something about it I couldn't stand...and then get stuck with those volumes to give away or try to sell. (happened to me with Faeries' Landing)

Yeah, the most volumes I have of a series is Fruits Basket at of course 13 volumes. ^^

And vigorous young men stumble badly,
Yet those who wait for the LORD
Will gain new strength;
They will mount up with wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary.
