man... I hate numbering changes... It's called "RPG Maker 5" in Japan, but that doesn't count the incarnations on portables and on PC (a total of 5, 2 GB games, and 3 PC releases)

Anyhow, I'm interested in playing it, as it will be my only legal way to do RPG maker now that agetec decided to be jerks and not release RPG maker 2003 for Windows XP in the US... Grr... No matter how you slice it, the PS2 version is going to be a downgrade for me... I hate those cheap CG characters, and there isn't nearly as much room for switches and events and variables... All the games on RPG Maker for PS2 are going to be very short, as there isn't the room on the memory card for a really long game... The only saving grace will be if it's Harddrive compatible, making it at least compare to RPG maker 2000 in terms of storage, even if not in terms of customization.

In any case, I'm really just whining now, so I should try it before I knock it... I do know beforehand it won't be as flexible as RPG Maker 2000, and even less so than RPG Maker 2003, but I may as well give it a try. I know it will be better than the Super Famicom version, and there won't be as much pressure on me to not use the RTP, since EVERYONE will have to use it (not much customizing to be done on a DVD-rom) I'm looking forward to it, even with all my whining. I really want to be able to start my "Bob" project over, albeit without my custom music, animations, battle backgrounds, and enemies... Hmm... how depressing... I guess I could try a completely new project, putting all my hard work on 2000 to waste... Man... I could strangle someone at agetec... (hitting a pillow... Er, no I'm not...)

I got it for Christmas, but i can't play it because my playstation 2 is being a stoopy poopy head. Maybe i'll trade in my playstation2 for a new one at EB, but i still need to save up for that. Anyway, it looks pretty neat and I can't wait to try it. One of the coolest things about it is that it supports USB, so you won't have to scroll one letter at a time.

Later Gator,

EB's GMR had it in the latest issue, didn't have too much good to say about it. They thought the demo/tutorial/example thing was junk compared to the last one, that even with a keyboard the interface needs lots of work, and without a hard disk there is a real limit to what you can do (which was kinda what I had thought with any of them).

I had RPG maker 2000 the English version, But I heard that the PS2 version was just a monstrocity. It took too much time but in the end was a bit enjoyable. Making An entire RPG by yourself isn't exactly fun gameplay but rather stressful.

on dont have that problem

I had it to but I cant spend to much time on the comp.
