unusual pop-ups....

Postby BigZam » Sat Mar 25, 2006 6:21 am

ok i've been getting alot of pop ups lately....only they're actual dialog boxes. they pop up like when you click on a link and it takes you to another site. my pop-up blocker is quite strong and has always blocked pop ups before. this only happens if i click on certain links but the link has nothing to do with the popup. most of these popups are just virus protection ad things but i just got a porn one.....whats going on here?

That's awfully odd, I must say. Sadly, I don't know enough about computers to give an answer, but do these come from frequently visited sites? Is it possible you have told your browswer to allow popups from certain sites? anyhoo, I hope you get it under control

If it's coming up no matter what, it is probably adware on your system

That's been happening to me, too. It got so bad I got Ad-Aware on top of Norton (which I already had), but when I tried to do a deep scan, my computer shut down! grrrrrr

My husband installed Firefox, and it's stopped. *hopes*

i would say get firefox on your comp, with the adblock plus and filterset.G plugins, and see if that helps.

Is it possible to install firefox on the computer? What you are describing in actually the reason quite a few people have switched to Firefox.

You can always uninstall it, if you don't like it.
