Some people from my local homeschool group are putting on a costume ball and I was considering going in traditional Japanese attire. The look I was going for was much like a shinigami from Bleach - black kimono and hakama (with white kimono underneath), white tabi, and regular sandals. Unfortunately, my Internet search efforts are proving to be largely fruitless. Does anyone know where I can get these items for a reasonable price?

If you aren't looking for super-authenticity, you could try to find a pattern (like Folkwear or something) and local dressmaker (hopefully not a greedy one that overcharges for something that they spent all of 30 minutes on).
Cosplay sites are pretty good about advice on this kind of stuff as well. Especially a search on Cosplay.com.
You can even try to wing it and try to make it yourself since they are really are just strips of cloth.

Edit: As for hakama you could try the cosplay.com search as well or the pattern is on Folkwear too. Ooh! And a search through a karate site too.
And I suppose a shufti through ebay couldn't hurt, ne?

yea check out martial arts stores that deal with stuff like kendo etc. and you should be able to get them for a descent price. the top that they wear isnt actually a kimono it is a black Gi jacket, with the undershirt (cant remember what its called).
