Abenobashi: Older CHILDREN?

Postby Bobtheduck » Sat Jan 10, 2004 3:38 pm

Anime News Network rated "Abenobashi Magical Shopping Arcade" as "older children"

OLDER CHILDREN? :mutter: Ok... SO it was just the first volume. The first volume wasn't that bad... And the third episode did have me laughing my head off, but that's not a good thing to rate something that becomes something definately NOT child friendly later in the series...
Full frontal male nudity, incest that tripled as a Shouta complex and, if it were completed, statuatory rape (never carried out all the way, but really approaching it), not to mention more jiggling than a Jello factory...
Oh, and a few other nasty things... This show was really dirty (though, to get your bearings, if excel 26 was a 100 on the nasty scale, and Totoro was a 0, abenobashi was probably a 72 or something... And, Sakura Diaries (uncut) probably rated a solid 60... It's [button="age warning"]incest vs worse incest... Sakura was just cousins, but Abenobashi was a little more sordid than that, even if they never took it all the way[/button])... And they rated it "Older Children" If I were a parent listening to them and I got to some of the later episodes because my kids got into the show, and they gave volume one an "Older Children" rating, if I didn't know that much about anime, I'd probably ban them from it for life... At the very least, even knowing about anime but if I didn't know about that show, I'd never visit ANN again... older children... man...

I took a brief look at the Anime News Network review and noticed that it said "Preview" at the front.

So It's likely that they didn't see enough of the series to know about the content.
Did you say that the bad content was mainly later in the series?

I'm a little confused... Are you mad about the rating because you think it's too high or too low...? Or am I completely missing something?... _-_

What? You want to see THAT? And why are you cursing? This is supposed to be a Christian site.

Watch it, Setsuna. Even if in jest, the remarks are definitely in bad taste (as well as the needless language).

Yeah, we should contact them. I don't think its good to have really any age seeing that kind of stuff, let along children. :(
