There are a few things that tick me off, Nazi Man Faye is one of them.
But this...this is just sick, twisted and every bit evil.

This may be how Dell is attempting to break into the highend market.

(Yes, I know what they sell. It was a joke).

All the players are denying it so far.

The Gizmodo site makes a good point that this is an easier way to get a high-performance unit in their coffers without modifying their current assembly line, but CNET also points out that Dell has historically been unwilling to expand through acquisitions.

The first thing that came to mind was that DELL was trying to buy street cred with gamers (c'mon which one of us hasn't laughed at a DELL user trying to game?)

Bleh >_> I suck. Go laugh at me!

CNET is now reporting that ... it's true!

I don't think this bodes well though.

Apparently they are still being sold under different firms. So alienware in essence, is still alienware. Nonetheless, I'm never buying an alienware in my life. I feel confident enough to contruct my own system. Or I can just use ibuypower.com

But Dell selling AMD products, that's quite interesting there.

I've never seen a Big Corp buy out a little one and NOT have any effect on the small one....

I say... 600 dollar gaming machine / linux machine! (aka a modified PS3!) Hahaha! That's more like it... 'Tis why I stick to my consoles... Economy and the trouble involved...

Seriously, I never understood paying 4000 freaking dollars for a gaming machine!!! Honestly... It's purely absurd... So, this doesn't bother me one bit.

People with more money than brains I guess. My system is nowhere that good, and it is still more than enough for the games out there so far

Well, you can use the machine for more than just games. It might make a fast development machine for a coder, too.

Well put. Michael Dell is the CEO because he likes lots of money. High end systems with a small sales base don't make lots of money, even with big margins. (Lots is a relative term; don't read this as 'unprofitable' -- just not huge volumes of cash.) In Mike Dell's world, you make lots of commodity PCs with small margins, but you sell a buttload of them and get your returns on volume. That's not how Alienware does business.

Which is a good reason... but I've never seen an Alienware ad, not aimed at gamers.
