What's a good Gamecube game?

What's a good Gamecube game?

Postby Nia-chan » Tue Dec 23, 2003 6:33 pm

I finally got a Gamecube, and I was wondering what some good games were. Do they have any good RPG type of games?
I didn't see a topic like this anywhere, I hope there isn't one...

I don't know of any good RPG type games, but I can recommend Metroid Prime, Super Smash Bros Melee, and F-Zero GX highly.

I second the vote for Super Smash Bros. Melee. I'm not good at it, but it is still fun to play with friends. Other than that, you can't do any worse than Soul Calibur 2 if you like fighting games, and the Zelda series for RPGs.

My personal favorites are.... Zelda, Metroid Prime, Beyond Good and Evil, Prince of Persia, Rogue Squadron, Viewtiful Joe, Mario Kart Double Dash, and Sould Calibur 2. Smash Bros. is a great game, but my friends drove me nuts playing it all the time at my house. Other good games to check out... Star Fox: Adventures, Mario Sunshine, Pikmin, and I like F-zero, but it gets a little annoying at times.

By RPGs, I assume you mean games that follow the Final Fantasy-type mold. The only RPG like that I can think of would be Skies of Arcadia: Legends.
Haven't played it but it got good reviews...

Other than that you could try The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. It does have RPG elements in it although it's more of a action/puzzle game, in my opinion.

yes, Skies of Arcadia: Legends is pretty good i have that. i don't think it will be long before Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles comes out.. it maybe in Feb. 2004. While not a RPG i have heard that Mario Kart: double dash is great. i am also a big fan of the Resident Evil series, but that may very well not be for you. :)

Final fantasy I think he meant "Crystal Chronicles" which is for GC/GBA. I can only tell you my faves, which would be Metroid Prime, and of course I'm waiting eagerly for Twin Snakes (that one is mature audiences only, though.) I don't know that much about Gamecube, though... I'm not much of a Nintendo person anymore... The only thing I really want on GC is the Twin Snakes.

I was beginning to wonder...

Anyway, Skies is an awesome RPG, Soul Calibur II is an awesome fighter, Zelda is an awesome action game. Animal Crossing is an awesome "Wow what a weird game" game.

I've always thought that the Zelda game was the main reason to own a gamecube. All my friends seem to think so anyway :)

I looooved WindWaker; it's definately a must-have. Kept me engaged for days, and it's just the right difficulty level. It's not a traditional RPG, but it's lke the other Zelda games. If you played OoT, you'll love it.

The only other game I'm fairly up to speed on is Metroid Prime. While it looked absolutely breath-takingly beautiful, it's also perhaps the hardest game ever crafted. I mean mind-numbing, strategy-guide looking, migraine-inducing hard.

Super Smash Bros. Melee and Metriod Prime are two good reasons for a GC. I have Melee but I still don't have Prime yet.

New recommendation: Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. We got this for Christmas and have had a lot of fun with it. It's rather frustrating at times (you WILL die a lot) but fortunately you can rewind out of a lot of dumb mistakes...:P This falls under the platform action genre, with some fighting. There is a little blood but it's the only thing that someone might find offensive that I've seen up until now (we're at like 54% completion).

Aw, Ashley, MP wasn't that hard...:P

Prince of Persia is definitely my second choice for best game on all systems. I rented the X-box version and I should have just bought it. The game play is slick and the fighting is great for a platformer. Plenty of fun puzzles, too! Yet, yeah, I died.... alot... alot... lol, I had to much fun running across the walls. It's like the Matrix meets Mario with a sword. Great game and I was surprised. I thought the Prince of Persia game would be gone for good by now.

My number one choice is.... Beyond Good and Evil......

This game is just wonderful... in fact it's tied with Zelda: The Wind Waker for best adventure game this year…. to me. It's has a nice story, a wide amount of comical characters, a nice variety of things to do, and the graphic are colorful and sharp. The only problem is.... well it's short. I still highly recommend it, even though it's only 12 hours in length the first run through. Still, it’s a fun game to revisit.

BTW, Metroid Prime I never found to be hard, even on hard mode. Well, the combat aspect of the game I didn't find hard... yet, I know alot of people who it took a while to get used to the control setup. Now, I have to admit... I never found every thing in the game. I think it was 98% and the first run through on easy... I clock in at 35 hours. lol, yes 35 hours, I never wanted the game to end, so I took it slow and enjoyed the scenery. The second run through on hard was 94% and in 9 hours. I'm too lazy to get every thing. :P

Sonic games are fun. ^^ I like Sonic DX. It's not very challenging, though. And I reccomend ALL the Zelda games EVER made! Windwaker is awesome. :thumb: Smash Bros. Melee is reeeally cool. *heh, I bet I could whoop any of ya'll ;) lol*
