agasfas wrote:Last night I watched "The Place Promised in Our Early Days." I've bought it like 6months ago and finally got around to watching it. Overall I think it was a really good anime with some of the best animation I've seen in awhile. The story itself was a bit confusing at first, so it took me a bit to catch up. Very good movie.

Try watching the subbed version, if you haven't already. Watching the subbed version really cleared a lot up for me.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Excel Saga, first five episodes. Got it on DVD for Christmas. Hysterical. I love it.

Watch out for the last episode of the show. (of Excel Saga) I hear it's pretty bad. Love the first disc though.

The last episode is a "not made for tv" show. Basically it is a hodgepodge of everything the censors would censor out from grateous amounts of blood to breasts and worse (nothing hentai but definetly not to see) only thing good about it is the hilarious scene of ilpalazzo trying to play guitar with the three mohawk brothers. But as stated before the final episode is a total departure from the series and seems to be a thumbing of the nose at censors.

The past few days I've gotten around to watching the first two volumes of Figure 17. It's another one of those animes I've bought like 6months ago but haven't had time to watch. I'm really surpised on how good the story really is. Can't wait to watch the rest :)

I've finished watching all of s-CRY-ed, I'm caught up on The Boondocks (it might not have been made in Japan but I consider it anime) and I might be a couple of episodes behind on Neon Genesis Evangelion. *watches all three on Adult Swim* (note: am I allowed to say I watch NGE as long as I don't talk about what's in it?)
Simple arithmetic:
FF7 + World War II games = overrated
freedom + things we're lucky to have = taken for granted
manga + anime = a very happy person
Salvation + Jesus' Sacrifice = Eternal Life
a village - its idiot = a lot of smart people
(more to come)

"You wouldn't lie to a judge with a baseball bat, would you?" - Extreme Akim

"For as low as you go, ask God to take you that high." - Tyler Perry

"I had the right to remain silent...I just didn't have the ability." - Ron White

"Your trademark is stupidity!" - Mr. T

"Your eyes can deceive you, don't trust them." - Obi Wan Kenobi

"If you can't be good, be good at it." - my uncle

Figure 17 is indeed a great show all the way through.

I am currently watching through the Galaxy Angel A Box Set.

Currently watching Sakura Wars, Fighting Spirit (again), Air, Bleach, Canvas~2, Gunparade Orchestra (AND LOVE IT), Lamune, Pani Poni Dash (a little stupid though), Rozen Maiden Traumend (XD), and Suzuka. Ah, the things you do when you're unemployed and waiting for the next semester to start.....

Oh and TrigunX89, I've been watching Shuffle! and it starts to show it's ecchi roots with a little bit of nudity around episode 8, I'm torn on whether or not I'll finish the series.

Hate to tell ya man but ya bought a bootleg. I bought the same thing over two years ago with Bebop off of Ebay. The real boxset for Bebop is nearly impossible to find. If it's not in Bandai trademarked DVD cases it's a bootleg.

I picked up the Japanese DVDs of Totoro and Howl's moving castle yesterday. Totoro turned out to be a bust. If you have the 20th Century Fox version
This one and are a dub fan, don't waste your time with the Disney version. The JP disc from Buena Vista is dubtitled using that 20th Century Fox dub and the subtitle from that dub track... so you frequently see subs where the characters are saying NOTHING.

Unless they come out with a completely new version for the US, it looks like a ripoff for the US fan

the Japanese voice actors were better though

Oh really? That's too bad. But I really don't care, as it is still the same to me. Plus I can't afford to buy the real thing.
But I got to say, I would have never noticed if you hadn't told me. Because it looks just like any other anime. :)

I watched the first episode last night and it's awesome!
