General and random info:

Name: in the (modified) words of Guy from Martian Successor Nadeisco: "Ami is just the stupid name my mother gave me, but Gypsy is the name that belongs to my soul!"
Age: 20
Gender: Female
General Appearance: tall, strawberry blonde-short cropped, tousled looking hair (y'know, like Meg Ryan used to have), blue eyes (I really would rather them be brown, though).
Piercings: ears, and then one in the top of my left ear (considering the eyebrow ... I just don't know yet ...)
Preferred style of socks: white, and so short they don't touch the bottom of my ankle ball bone ... thing.
Heritage: Irish/Native American
Dream super power: Flight
Voted in Highschool: [for girls] Most Likely to Succeed (covers mouth and laughs), Most Athletic, and Most Christ-like
Date of Salvation: um, I was 6 and it was at a Kid's Crusade
Music Style: anything Celtic, happy hardcore, techno, instrumental
Active hobbies: kickboxing/various martial arts (I'm also learning how to use the staff and a boken [wooden katana]), hiking, canoeing/kayaking (I'm in love with Maine lakes and rivers), basketball, jogging, interpretive dance (no, not really)
Lazy hobbies: RPG video games, fighting games, drawing, sculptures, painting, models and kits, and piping away on the Irish tin whistle
Fav Food: Poutine, french fries, tater tots, hash browns, mashed potatoes - basically anything potato except baked potato, yick. Mac and cheese, crab rangoons and popcorn!
Foods I refuse to touch: lobster, stuffing, and most Italian food
Fav Bible Translation: New Living Translation
Fav Book: other than the Bible Little Women all the way! Chronicles of Narnia cut a close second, though.
Quirk: I play with microwaves. Quite a lot, actually. You know, like, stick something in there to see what happens ...
Slightly embarrassing hidden talent: ... I can do one mean Helen Reddy singing impersonation

well, that's quite enough.

Let's see...hmm, one of the first things I remember about Ami would be...how she used to comment on my snacking techniques (granola bars and milk)...and the fact she liked elves, which was a definate plus in my book. And how she got me an awesome blanket for christmas! And miracle of miracles, let me borrow some celtic cds aaaaaand a tape for quite a long time.

A few questions....

Postby Omega Amen » Sat May 15, 2004 5:36 pm

Why am I posting in this thread? I would like to ask certain questions to each staff member in his/her Who's Who thread (with the exception being Shatterheart since he answered them in a different thread).

Okay, Gypsy, first, a few laid-back questions.

1. *looks at her avatar.* That looks like Yuffie from Final Fantasy VII. Am I correct? Well, even if I am not correct, why did you choose this character for your avatar?

2. Your brother, Zilch, claims that you are "masteress of the universe." How does it feel to be called by that title? What are the duties and responsibilities that come with that title?

3. What is it like to have a younger brother? (Note: I have no sibilings. So I am very interested in your input.)

4. An observation: you say you have, "strawberry blonde-short cropped, tousled looking hair," but your avatar has black hair. My question: what do you think about black hair?

Now, for the serious questions. I would really like to have your answers to these questions, but if you choose not to answer them, I understand, and I will not press you.

5. As an administrator of this site, I am sure you have a lot of responsibilities, and you try to be a good example for the rest of the members here.

So, why do this?

(I have read the FAQ before I joined, and I can assume that you "like doing this" in a general sense.)

6. From the start of your involvement, what were your personal motivations, intentions, and goals in participating in this project? Have they changed since then? How are you holding up to them?

7. Finally, you might have had some expectations for this site initially. Are things going as expected?

Thanks.

Quirk: I play with microwaves. Quite a lot, actually. You know, like, stick something in there to see what happens ...

Ohmygosh! Me too! *air high five*

I go to my aunt's house everyday after school and that's the very first thing I do when I walk through the door. It's tradition. Grab whatever is on the counter next to the microwave, and pop it for a bit. I've nuked all of their bills, a majority of their magazines, and newspapers, one or two pill bottles and a couple of bananas to the point of near explosion.

My most embarrassing accident with it though was at home while I was on the phone and nuked a piece of silver wear. My first time putting metal into it. I thought I was going to die. :forehead:

You got any stories Gypsy?

Uh, sure, always happy to talk about myself ... I mean! Always happy to answer questions. Let 'em fly!

1. *looks at her avatar.* That looks like Yuffie from Final Fantasy VII. Am I correct? Well, even if I am not correct, why did you choose this character for your avatar?

Yup, that's Yuffie. There wasn't any special reason that I chose her - I just picked an avatar out of my personal folder and I've stuck with it. Yuffie has become my face on CAA, and I still like the avatar, so it'll probably stay for a while yet. ]2. Your brother, Zilch, claims that you are "masteress of the universe." How does it feel to be called by that title? What are the duties and responsibilities that come with that title?
Is there any safe way for me to answer this question? How about "no comment"?

3. What is it like to have a younger brother? (Note: I have no sibilings. So I am very interested in your input.)

Well, I have two younger brothers, and I'm the oldest out of all the cousins and such (and the only girl to boot). When I was younger, I used to look for role models that I could sort of think of as an older brother/sister. I'd pick out certain qualities from the older people I was watching and try my best to add them into my personality and character. It wasn't until I hit high school that it dawned on me that I didn't have to wish for an older sibling to look up to - I was one. Hopefully, when my brothers look at me, the qualities and tendencies that I looked for in others will be seen in me.

I guess because of my unique position of being the oldest out of all my brothers and cousins, I'm trying to be the big sister that I've always wanted. Remember when we had the thread going about anime characters that you're most like? Well, t_n_c picked out a couple for me that were older sister figures, and as silly as this will sound, that made me very happy. I have the special opportunity to be a friend, teacher, guardian-of-sorts, confidant, and haven for my brothers. They don't have to ever worry about me not understanding or caring, because I'm going to love them no matter what.

I'm sorry, Omega Amen. I sort of morphed your question into "what's it like to be a big sister?" but I hope I still answered your question.

4. An observation: you say you have, "strawberry blonde-short cropped, tousled looking hair," but your avatar has black hair. My question: what do you think about black hair?

Black hair is cool. ^^

5. As an administrator of this site, I am sure you have a lot of responsibilities, and you try to be a good example for the rest of the members here.

So, why do this?

Why? Because there's few things I'd rather be doing! The fact that there's so many Christians that also love anime still amazes me, and I can't think of a more specific group that I'd rather be hanging out with online. I'm honored to be on the staff of such a group, and I do take my responsibilities here seriously. I do this, because I don't see a list of members - I see each and everyone here (well, the ones that I know) as a person at a keyboard somewhere with their own personal thoughts, heart, and life. It'd be too hard for me to try to think that I'm just doing stuff around here for just a "forum." When I do my tasks here at CAA, even if it's a simple as answering a question, I think of it as I'm doing this for Cobalt, or Ronin, or Bobtheduck, or any other member. Most of you guys are my buddies, so doing mod-like stuff doesn't seem like work at all as long as one of you is benefiting from it.

6. From the start of your involvement, what were your personal motivations, intentions, and goals in participating in this project? Have they changed since then? How are you holding up to them?

Well, it's safe to say my horizons have been expanded as far as how I think of CAA. I never imagined that CAA could have gone from the teeny msn community to this. My motivations and intentions haven't changed a bit, unless you count them getting stronger. I want CAA to be a safe place, filled with Christians that enjoy talking about their mutual hobby and helping each other out in big and small ways. I'm proud when I see pages of responses to prayer requests and even small blips of encouragement.

7. Finally, you might have had some expectations for this site initially. Are things going as expected?

Yup! I expected CAA to grow, and it has! Anyone can take a look around and see that anime isn't just going to fade away like a fashion. Also, media is the becoming more influential every day, and eventually, I think the Christian world will stop seeing anime as such a danger and look at it more like we do. When that day comes, I expect CAA to be a firmly grounded and matured site with credentials and influence that can be used as a foundation to other like-minded organizations. I want CAA to someday be a resource for the Christian media boom that I feel coming, and it's already starting. Also, I'd like to see CAA branch out in web studio form and start churning out some CAA original stuff like manga (printed and web) solid rpgs for people to join, and AMVs.

I hope that answered all your questions, Omega Amen.

What this question really means is are you willing to dye your hair black for him? :P

Omega, I'm glad you brought this up from the grave.:)

>>Well, t_n_c picked out a couple for me that were older sister figures, and as silly as this will sound, that made me very happy. <<

I'm glad you liked the ones chibi_chan and I picked out for you; but, those were my little chibi's choices. She's always wanted a big sister, and you've always treated her so kindly. Thank you for that. I can tell that you see real people behind those keyboards, and I think that is so important, because each and every one of these kids and young adults are real living, breathing brothers and sisters in Christ. I think everyone here notices that about you, Gyps. <--your new nickname.:P Keep doing what you're doing.

YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

At school most are shorter than me!) I have a question: would you mind saying how tall you are? or is that getting too personal??
