I would classify them as a mix of Doom, Goth, and Opera Metal. They are seriously good. Plus they are not as heavy as some other bands though. But nevertheless thier music is beautiful.

A few more to add:

Virgo Merlot

The Mayfield Four

John Frusciante (OK, so he's a solo artist)

Fozzy

I only like one of their songs, but the now-defunct band Soul Coughing has an excellent former frontman named Mike Doughty.

Steve Taylor is like classic punk, to me any way.
^_^ Those three are Gothic bands there.

Scream of the gelatin is a band I want to hear someday.

I'm on the hunt for depressing Christian music any one here know
any good band like that? It's very rare to find a band as that. That's
why ! listen to most secular bands.

Of course i don't see why a Christan band would talk about depressing thing
BUT any way it would be cool to find one. I guess I'm kind'a looking for
Emo stuff like DearEphesus...

I love Circle Of Dust and Saviour Machine. Have you heard of Argyle Park and AP2? They are made by the same dude who made Circle Of Dust and Celldweller.

I love Saviour Machine.

I wanted to know who else listens to Children of Bodom, In Flames, and Opeth besides myself and Steeltemplar.

Well Clay Scott (one of the names he goes by has nothing to do with Saviuor Machine) but he has had a hand in all those bands. Klank used to be with him in Argyle Park and COD...And I'm pretty sure I've heard something about him being in Brainchild.

I know I've mentioned these guys before but.

The Fall of Troy

These guys are some insane prog-hardcore. They only have one guitarist but the guy is insane. Check them out.

The Mars Volta is waaaaay popular. They were spawned from At the Drive-In, who was amazing. The Mars Volta doesn't belong on this list. ^^;

That's true about The Mars Volta being pretty darn popular. I think At The Drive In is small enough (barely) to be here though.

-Butterfingers
-Llama Farmers

I like Zao sometimes, about once a year. It's great when mixed with other music (when I heard one of their songs on the radio a few years ago, I was ecstatic), but listening to an album like theirs straight through can be exhausting to me.

I've probably posted this band before but a really good one is "Slow Coming Day." Another pretty neat one is a really small Kansas band called "Blood To Avail."

A really neato band is "August Burns Red." They are a bit bigger (they're on SolidState) but they aren't really well known. Imagine As I Lay Dying mixed with Norma Jean...That's pretty much what they sound like.

How about the Jesus and Mary Chain? They certainly deserve more airplay than they've received, but I guess most DJ's and program directors are a bit wary of them because of their name.
