I mean... WTF? Metroid I was kinda excited about, being John Woo and all. But again, I guess we'll just have to wait...

Where's the fire? I don't see any problem here. All just rumors anyway. Zelda probably would't make a very good movie unless they did it JUST right, but we'll see. ^^
I can't wait for a Halo movie!

All video game movies invariably suck. Sorry, but they do. The only one that was PASSABLE was Mortal Kombat. And even that was only passable.

I will only support this movie if they make it the same as the Zelda cartoon that was on the Super Mario Bros. Super Show. If Link does not say "Well ex-CUUUUSE me, Princess" at least once, this movie fails.

It's not even a confirmed movie. The Metroid movie probably won't be out for another three years anyway. And then if that is succesful expect at least two for this.

Mortal Kombat sucked majorly. Doom was passable in my videogame movie book and I've seen every single one of them so far from old school Super Mario to Uwe Boll crapfests.

I doubt there will be a Zelda movie, even if Metroid was successful (low enough there). Who wants a movie of those two games, when you can play the game, anyways?

If Link does not say "Well ex-CUUUUSE me, Princess" at least once, this movie fails.

This is why Link should forever remain a *silent* protagonist. >.>

Anyway, if one Video Game movie is going to do it right, I'd put my money on Halo.

Well, the stakes certainly are higher now. If they did this ten years ago, it wouldn't have mattered as much if a Zelda movie sucked. Today, they can't afford to screw around with Zelda and Metroid, lest they suffer the wrath of legions of unhappy gamers.

Geh? Advent Children? Or are you referring to all stateside movies?

And Metroid is something that could work. I mean, we got John Woo on it, and as long as it sticks true to the game, it could work (and Ridley must be in it!!).

Right. I think that IF they made a Zelda movie, it would, I'm sure, be a much better effort than game movies in the past have been, but a Zelda movie just doesn't seem right. A Metroid or Halo movie would rock though, as long as they didn't toally blow it.

I actually haven't seen Advent Children, though from what I hear it's as I suspected (all action, no plot). I'll still buy it, and it'll probably be fairly decent, but it won't be a GREAT movie.

However, I was referring mostly to the American made video game movies.

A little plot, but if you're a fan of good action, you shouldn't care. This far beat out Matrix in my book (even if it is CG).

Eh, but a lot of the reason I like RPGs so much is BECAUSE of the plot. This is a sequel to an RPG, so you'd think it'd have a good plot...but no, it's just an excuse to show off eye candy.

Like I said, I'm still going to buy it, and I'll probably like it, but I won't LOVE it, because it won't have the heart that the original FF7 did.

Mario Brothers Movie.........

Can I get a *THROW UP!* That movie was great if you`re a little kid, but otherwise, no.

When you say stateside are you pointing to the fact that FFVII: Ac will not bwe released here?

LA: You`re putting your money on halo?! Maybe cuz of the fanbase but i`m goin with Splinter Cell, the one video game movie that will have a plot that "COULD ACTUALLY HAPPEN." Except they`re making Sam Fisher a 30-year-old as oposed to the 50-year-old in the games. Eh, Hollywood, go figure.

Didn't Tom Clancy deliberately make him 50 to show that he was experienced and not a newb rookie?

Silly Hollywood.

At first, I thought it was a silly idea, until I heard about all that's going into the movie; Peter Jackson is Executive Producer, WETA's working on the visuals, they are dropping $75 million into it, and the script is worth several million itself.

If you've read the books, you'll know there's a lot potential and Bungie has a nice detail/exciting universe they've crafted.

Wait, Zelda didn't have a plot? That's funny. I could've sworn there was a story about how Hyrule was formed, and where the Triforce came from, and the Hero of Time, and the descendants of the sages...

I guess I must've imagined it all, huh?

I encourage you all to go Latino Review and read the Splinter Cell and Halo movie script reviews. And yes this site is extremely credible look at it for yourself indeptly before you post saying otherwise. Alex Garland, who did 28 Days Later and The Beach, was paid a cold million to write this script. Bungie has rights to put their input in at every step. And of course ya got Peter Jackson as executive-producer and WETA there for all the gorey details.

Gee. Wow. I can see all of that making it into a mainstream movie. Bottom line is that the Zelda games aren't exactly the most in-depth games, plot-wise. You've got a little elf kid trying to save the princess.

At any rate, if anyone doesn't agree with me I really don't care to argue about it. It's my opinion, etcetera, and if you think I'm wrong then you're entitled to it and I say more power to you. I also wave my hand and say 'bah.' ;)

Well, depends on the Zelda game, honestly. For example, the Oracle of Seasons/Ages games, Wind Waker, Majora's Mask, Link's Awakening...none of these had "saving the princess" as a plot point. Actually, I take that back a bit for Wind Waker, there WAS a point when Zelda got kidnapped, but it was pretty much at the end of the game, so it wasn't as if that was the entire goal of the game (unlike Zelda 1 and 2).
