Ratchet: Deadlocked

Postby kaji » Wed Nov 16, 2005 8:16 am

Has anyone else had the opertunity to enjoy this great title? I just beat it the other day and am now on Challenge mode. If you have never had the opertunity to play a Ratchet and Clank game, its about time. Not only does it add a CO-Op option for the campaign (somthing seriously lacking in good PS2 games), have a very fun online/multiplayer modes, but is probably the best platformer on the PS2 to date.

With lots of chaotic battles, completely customizable weapon inventory, crisp-clear graphics, smooth game controlls, and modes/extras to increase replay value. This is definately a worthy purchase.

Oh, and did I mention the cuscenes are hillarious and the announcer comentary will have you on the floor laughing?

Announcer: "Ratchet has got this match on ice folks, the juice is cold and the genaric brand geletin is definately jiggling!"

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

I read some great things about the game, but I also read it's pretty short. Nevertheless, it nice to hear the series didn't lose its awesome sense humor.

This being said, I still need to go back and beat the third one before I pick up Deadlock. Hopefully, the price will drop by then.

I skipped over the original and GC, but oh well.

While the campaign is a bit shorter then other installments, part of the beauty now is being able to play through with a friend. You can also unlock skins for use in the campaign, one being Jak from the Jak and Daxter series. ^_^

I primarrily bought the game for the co-op and multiplayer options. But the rest does live up the the humor/fun of the series.

Is Clank still in it? They turned the title from Jak and Daxter to Jak but Daxter was equally important in both games. That`s why I`m asking.

No, Clank does not see any action in this game. He is your mission control guy, that calls you with advice and such. Its not really a big loss, but I never saw clank as that exciting of a part of the game to begin with. For those fans who think the series should be called 'Clank and Ratchet', may find them selves rather dissapointed.

On the bright side, you do get these two hillarious combat bots that you can issue commands to durring battle. Even if you dont tell them what to do, the AI is still good enough, in that they will not just sit around doing nothing. They are always picking off guys around me, and you can purchase numerious upgrades to their weapons, power, and even apearance.

Isaiah 40:28-31

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God. The Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; They will run and not grow weary, They will walk and not be faint

Well, it did just come out last month here in the States. Do you enjoy the Ratchet franchise Chocobo?

Hey, I found a glitch of sorts if anyone is interested.

One of the tough parts of the ratchet series is getting enough cash to upgrade your weapons to their Max and purchasing the elusive "super-expensive-weapon-of-doom", that exists in each game.

But here is a tip to not only net you a bunch of bolts, but also level those weapons up to lv.100.

This works on your first playthrough, but is much more effective if you do it in challenge mode (a mode that lets you play through the game again with all your old weapons and stats, and tougher enemies).

In challenge mode, you can purchase Alpha Mods from the vender, so purchasing exp mods, and bolt mods, just multiply this strategy by X (X=lots and lots).

Basically head to planet Sorathos (or whatever that early swap level is called). In the first mission you are challenged with making it to a small areana and hacking the orbs infront of it to get in.

Max out your ammo, and clear all the enimies on the level but DO NOT hack the orbs. Max out your ammo again (as you will need all of it), and head back to the enterance of the areana. Now, you can hack the first orb, this will instantly trigger swarmers to spawn. Now, this is the trick, dont hack the other orb. Command your bots to come to you and they will stop hacking the second orb.

For some reason there is not a set number of swarmers that spawn at this point. The little green guys will continue to spawn untill the second orb has been hacked. Thus giving you a never ending supply of easily dispatched enemies. Just equip the Shock Mod to which ever weapon you are using and waste each wave in one shot.

Now, this is the tricky part... These little guys offer you little to no ammo or health, so be conservative with your shots, but dont wait to long as these little guys will just keep spawning and spwaning and spawning. Which brings us to the next important note here, DO NOT LEAVE THE AREA!!! Yes, do not leave these guyes alone spawning, the ONLY thing that stops them from spawning is hacking the second orb. If you run low on ammo, hack the second orb, leave the level and start over again.

Your Playstation cannot handle millions of these little things being active at once (and they will multiply that fast). I made the mistake of trying to go buy more ammo, and came back to a sea of green monsters. My system began lagging so I figured I would just expell them all at once with a nice shock mod... Nope, that was the last draw, my consol froze and I lost countless Bolts and Exp.

But if you stick around the area, and just fire a shot now and then, you will be fine. The Turret and Sheild launchers equiped with the Shock Mod also work wonders here.

Before you know it, you will have more Bolts then you know what to do with. ^_~

Have fun!
