Final Fantasy VII game story synopsis?

Postby eva-boy7985 » Tue Oct 18, 2005 1:32 am

Hey all, I have a close friend that is totally stoked about seeing FFVII: Advent Children once it comes out. However, therein lies my dilemma. He is a gamer, though rpgs are not his cup of tea. Since Advent Children is in fact a SEQUEL to the game Final Fantasy VII, I want to know if anyone knows perhaps of a website where I could find something along the lines of a really in depth story synopsis or perhaps even an online "novel" of the game's story that I could have him read before seeing the film? I myself am a huge FF fan, and thus am all ready to go in terms of "hype and excitement" over seeing the movie. I just want to find something basically that will come as close as possible to giving him the story with all its "magic" without him actually having to play the game. Guess it sounds kinda like the lazy way out, but I would greatly appreciate your thoughts or ideas on this situation :-) Thanks!

You only really need to know a few basic parts of the plot for Advent Children.

Basically: That girl in the pink got killed by Sephiroth. Cloud is bitter.

And Advent Children is pretty, er, "light" on plot(which isn't very interesting anyway).

Trust me, everyone's just going to watch it for the pretty graphics and action scenes(which make up most of the movie).

I hope it'll be way better than The Spirits Within .

Yeah, what ImpactAlberto said was pretty accurate. It's best if you have already played through the game, but the story really isn't particularly deep in the movie. It's all about the action and graphics. A friend of mine, who had never played the game, watched the movie, and he enjoyed it. In fact, afterward, he wanted to play the game. The game's story is too long for me to write about here. I did, however, find a short synopsis from http://www.eyesonff.com

Final Fantasy VII is the story of Cloud Strife and AVALANCHE's struggle to stop the evil Shinra Inc. from completely killing the planet. Shinra Inc. has monopolized the Mako industry and is the only provider of energy in the world of Final Fantasy VII. Mako is the lifeforce that lies inside the planet. Mako is the energy that is in all living things. Cloud sets out to stop Shinra at all costs before it is too late.

As you progress through the game, one of Shinra Inc.'s creations, Sephiroth, emerges and complicates the plot even further with his plans for world domination.

As this captivating story unfolds, lives will be lost, friends will be made, and hearts will be broken.

Sorry, that's probably not too much help. Anyways, I recommend that you just go see the movie for the cool action and stuff. Sure, you'll have a much better understanding of the prior story, and dare I say, "relationship" with the characters, but the movie is still watchable without it. If you do get a chance to check out the game, then by all means go for it. Whatever you do, have fun!

Shoot, I did. Just the fight scene in the woods (City of the Ancients) was worth the wait, whether you know the plot or not.

And the Sephiroth fight is just... wow.

go to gamefaqs.com and search for final fantasy vii. click on FAQS, and under in-depth faqs there is a script of all the dialogue in the game. i think this is kinda what you were looking for.

here's the link:

Sorry to tell you this, but there really can't be a summary to a game as long and complex as ff7. that's what made the game great. sure you can say "guy with long hair is getting a big rock to hit earth and kill everyone and guy with pointed hair is trying to stop him." The full story includes the complexity of all the characters and events.

luckily for your friend, advent children is only an hour and a half long and consists of little depth and complexity and is filled with kick-butt scenes, so he doesn't have to worry about that.

PS, slap your friend and tell him to play that game. it's good for him.

FF7 had a fantastic storyline, and you should talk your friend into playing it before giving him the story on paper. The story doesn`t share the same experience. Trust me, I HATED Rpgs until I played this game. Look at me now, I`m like the guy on this site who makes the most RPG threads. No offence to anyone on this site, I counted.
