which animes are safe to watch?

Postby RefractedAhav » Thu Sep 18, 2003 7:55 pm

Hi I'm kinda new to anime (and forums) and I've heard alot about anime with some questionable content. I was wondering, how do you know which anime are safe to watch?

Well, reviews from a Christian point of view, or from a site with a parental interest would probably be your best bet. If you can't find something here (or reviews are a little puny at the moment, sorry) then I suggest trying Anime Cafe. Most of their reviews will let you know if there's questionable material.

So what sort of genres are you looking into? Sci-fi, fantasy, everyday life?

I would prefer fantasy, humor, maybe everyday life. It depends on the story line.

Do you know any thing about the content of scrapped princess?

Scrapped Princess was pretty clean in my opinion. Sometimes the female lead is in the bath, but it's in the context of...a bath. And you don't see anything.

Edit: Just remembered, one of the main characters is a magic user. It didn't bother me, but I just thought I'd mention it in case that kind of thing bugs anyone else. There's also some blood, but nothing gory.

Um Slayers is pretty clean, a bit of blood a few mild cuss words. No nudity and such, its pretty funny fantasy. If you can use a bitorrent download you can check out Kodocha it's funny as well. Hmmm...I'll let you know if anything else pops into my head.
Maybe our mistakes are what make our fate. Without them, what would shape our lives? Perhaps if we never veered off course, we wouldn't fall in love, or have babies, or be who we are. After all, seasons change. So do cities. People come into your life and people go. But it's comforting to know the ones you love are always in your heart. And if you're very lucky, a plane ride away.

one piece and Zoids chaotic century are totaly clean, except for violence. I THINK any zoids series is clean. Miyazaki films princess mononoke, spirited away, kiki's delivery service, castle in the sky are all clean when it comes to nudity and such. Just watch out for PM, its really gruesom and somewaht gory. rurouni kenshin, is clean exept for some language and blood.( i think in one episode Sano pulls a birdy, but you wont see anything offensive on CN) i dont watch a lot of animes, but what i do watch is pretty much clean

the fallowing are supposed to be rated G

thanks to every one for there input especially Ruroken for that long list.

recently I've seen some of Hikaru no Go and Blue Seed. I like what I,ve seen so far except for the whole animal print underware thing in blue seed. I think it would have been better if they left that out.

I've only seen alittle of both anime, so if any one could tell me if either seires is at least that "clean" through out the series it would be very helpful.

Also I saw alittle of the first slayers movie at a friends house and couldn't finish it because of the clothing (or lack of) that naga was wearing. Is the series like that also?

Naga is only in the OVAs, not in the series.

And the Regular CCS dvds are horrible as mentioned; luckily there are the uncut dvds. Sailor Moon, last year, did the same. Speaking of the 1st season uncut Sailor Moon, does anyone have a problem with the audio? Why is it so crappy?
