voltz, that is another good reason not to buy a console as soon as it comes out, it may have defects.

- The 1st, 2nd and 3rd (slim) generation PS2's all had defects, from disc read problems to recalled cords.

Those PS2s took awhile to come out, and they still had defects. :/

Fireproof: Ooooooooh! Dat pwetty. :3

Nintendo is one console maker that has never had any defects that i know of. Other than the NES's cartridge loading problem that occured when the spring wore out.

Other than that, the N64 had no problems that i know of. And the GameCube has no problems that I know of. So I'm trusting Nintendo this next generation.

The only "defect" I know of is something everything has to deal with... time.
They'll eventually wear out, but I still have my SNES from years ago and it works fine. My GC is a few years old and the only time it even lags is during a few loading moments, from one scene to the next (like on Tales of Symphonia).

Let's see, Xbox360 is going to have a signinficant jump start, and if M$ keeps it up, the top online setup. PS3 has the largest established fan base, a mindblowing catalogue out of the box (backwards compatability), and the advantage of being next out the gate, ready to satiate rabid fans if the 360 bombs. Nintendo is trying something completely different with thier controller, which could blow up in thier faces, the promise of access to 20 someodd years worth of great games (still not sure exacty how, or how much they will cost, and what all will be available).
I really think this gen is resetting all the odds, and no one can make any good predictions. We're all just gonna have to wait and see where the chips fall. That's my prediction.

As for my personal preference, I am waiting for all of them to hit, so I can get a PS2 and Xbox on the cheap, as well as a dozen lifetimes worth of games on clearance.

Gosh, it's just too hard to say right now. Each console has its own perks. It'll be another year until I can honestly say which I think is best.

I'd say more like he has a huge gaping hole, which he tries to patch up with shiny new aluminum foil. :l

And the first gen playstations also had this funny little problem with the lens. The disc wouldn't be read properly sometimes, and you'd have to flip it upside down or stand it on its side to fix it.

again, people who have these problems buy the console as soon as it comes out, if you wait (sony guy points gun at gameoverblue), I mean, no, buy...it...immediately. sony...is...holy.

You're making no sense. You say "buy it immediately", then don't, then do, then you say Sony is HOLY?! O__O

*shrugs* waiting's always paid off for me. I got my PS and my PS2 about a year after their release and I've never had any serious problems with them.

Yeah what are you trying to say gameoverblue? I mean getting really confused every other contradictory post here. I'll be getting an Xbox 360 and a PS3 day one. I'm not a big spend usually so it's rare for me and I can afford it so it's not a problem there. And I want my gaming goodness now so I don't have any qualms either way. I'll be fine playing Perfect Dark Zero, Oblivion, Kameo, and whatever else.

I bought my PS2 day one and sure there was nothing "great" by any means. Sure I had some mediocre to ok stuff like Summoner and Dynasty Warriors 2 but they were fun and had plenty of eyecandy. And I had Timesplitters so it was all good to tide me over for the real meat that next year.

Please notice the italics that say (sony guy points gun at gameoverblue). Perhaps i didn't point out the joke enough, but I was trying to say that a person from sony suddenly pointed a gun at me and forced me to say to buy the console as soon as it comes out. I, of course, don't believe that. DON'T BUY THE CONSOLE AS SOON AS IT COMES OUT!

Alright...:eyeroll: Well I can do whatever I please with my money in the end anyway. If I want to buy a console on a day one then I'll do that.
