Saikano manga...

Postby Tenshi no Ai » Thu Oct 06, 2005 5:10 pm

So I've seen what the anime is like and yeah... had a few :/ scenes in it that I was surprised with. But the manga looks almost worst! From the cover of the 4th vol. alone. Probably the most skin I've seen on a manga COVER before! I also noticed that in stores they actually stick these mangas in plastic... somehow I doubt they have extras that would fall out and I don't really think any other manga come in shrink-wrap. Is it THAT bad that they'd have to seal it up in stores?

Some stores sell all their manga in shrink wrap, some don't. I don't think it's a judgment on the content unless there's some sort of parental advisory label on it like "No one under 17." I think it's just intended to keep browsers from reading it without buying it.

I have no idea what the actual contents of this manga are.

I have a friend who's checked out the Saikano manga and she told me it does indeed have more mature content in the later volumes. That's why the one you found was shrink wrapped.

At borders only the later volumes are shrink wrapped, the first one isn't. I checked Viz's website and volume 1 has "no rating" while volumes 2-6 are rated M

I think I would've liked the anime btter if they left out the certain "scenes". Even if it was meant to be taken seriously, being a drama. Still... :/ It's why I stay away from the manga! I DID download the 2 ep OVA cause one element on it looked interesting (a SECOND weapon!) But yeah... being an OVA and all, hope I won't get another scene to roll my eyes on :/

Saikano... not for the kiddies. I'm not sure I'd recommend it to a Christian reader, though. It seems to get a bit gratuitous for the subject matter.
