Nintendo Revolution Controller Reveiled! Are they joking?

Have a video game or or VG review? This is the place to to discuss it! We also accept discussions of board games and the like, but SHHH! Don't tell anyone, OK?

first off.... listen... do you think the developers will make it impossible to shoot them? Probably not! They are going to make it somewhat easier than a real gun!!!

And a big thing

THERES A FREAKEN CROSSHAIR ON THE SCREEN!!!!!!

THAT ALONE MAKES IT 10 BAJILLION TIMES EASIER WITH A MOUSE OR A REV CONTROLLER.... it would be somewhat harder to play First person shooters without crosshairs (many people still pull it off though, they are the elite mwaha... which is not me)

see guns always shoot at a certain point on the screen... draw a dot with a dry erase marker and itll always go there... UNLESS the game has guns recoiling and/or purposely inaccurate (which FPSes nowadays do) then it will fire in that certain area.... Only exception is if there us a certain button thatll let you navigate around with the mouse/controlelr (such as holding R in metroid prime or snipering in time splitters 3)

When moving a mouse, you dont move where the gun is pointing, you move the position the person is looking at... the so the gun will always shoot at the same spot on the screen (rather the same area)

truthgone12... you seemingly seem to be... quite rebellious honestly... like everything I say you quickly go against when I give sufficient support. I feel that you are not even attempting to examine opposing viewpoints

I was honestly a tad skeptical when I first saw it, but now that I've gotten more used to the idea, I think I'm going to love this! This and a classic type control plus who-knows how many expansions is gonna make for an insanely immersive experience. I know Nintendo is selling completely out to their innovation now, and I'm really loving it. Nintendo seems to pave the way for all the others systems to follow. Good deal.

You don't need to "fight back". Just tell them your opinion with good facts and hope they go for it.

But yes. Revo will probably end up good, though we'll have to wait to truly see.

How to I seem rebellious? Please tell me. I just don't agree with you that it will be easier to shoot with a remote control.

Pop in halo or halo 2... and try to nail 30 kills with a sniper rifle in like a minute on moving targets....

try to do so on a PC.... chances are you will have the advantage of doing so on a mouse....

Counter-strike with a keyboard and mouse gets you a lot of good players who learn to conserve ammo and learn to be accurate. The counter-strike for x-box is harder... because you control something with a little stick....

see the rev controller acts pretty much like a mouse... it has the advantage... read the other posts I made. You realize its slower to move your view around in controller-based first person shooters? because you are moving an analog stick, your chance for getting the target in the crosshair decreases

why do you seem rebellious in a way? You ignore my facts...

I said this
Sniping is VERY easy on a non-moving target in a PC game... sniping on ANY target is difficult on a console

you said this in response

click the url: http://www.christiananime.net/showpost.php?p=563473&postcount=95

Did you even read my entire post? you read half a sentence and made a comment back to me... if COURSE non-moving targets are easy... my point was saying even non-moving targets on A CONTROLLER is somewhat harder than a mouse...

Hey keep it civil man. It is easier to shoot with a mouse then a controller. But it is not easy to shoot with a remote.

1) It's not an actual remote.
2) How do you know that?
3) If you don't like it, you don't have to get it or you can try some guy that doesn't involve actually "shooting" anything.

And yes, you have been acting "rebellious" in a way towards MSP in your comments. I slightly understand the opinions of the others here who don't seem to like it, but you just downright seem to hate it for no reason.

I don't hate it. I just think that I would not have fun with it. I mean nintendo has done some really good things in terms of innovation. In their mad rush to out do the competition innovation can become insanity and I think that is what this is.

take a looksie here

Image

either prolly a prototype or not real... nethertheless it shows that it's the same thing AS shooting an actual gun pretty much

with the rev controller... a remote is on the same stance as a real live gun, like a nintendo zapper.... what makes it easier to shoot enemies is the fact that there is a CROSSHAIR on the screen

Yes, but most of us don't shoot real guns so we are used to the mouse or the controller.

there is a crosshair dude... ive said that millions of times...

think of using a gun with a laser-sight... think of it like those arcade gun shooters... like silent scope.... you're able to get precise shots.... but the problem with those are that the guns are heavy....

while the nrev controller looks really light

Exactly. With normal light guns you might not get perfect because, unless you know how to shoot a real gun, you don't always know where your shots will go. With a crosshair on screen, things become much, much easier.

In their mad rush to out do the competition innovation can become insanity and I think that is what this is.

And what's wrong with that? O_o

If you keep fighting back like this, then I see no point in continuing this debate.

So you want an insane controller? Ok. That's fine with me because it's your choice. I'am getting tired of some people on a forum yelling at me.

Now now, guys...calm down...we're all friends here. This is just a nice civil discussion. There's no problem if you dislike the control, truthgone, it all depends. Nintendo isn't trying to make it so everyone loves them. They're out there taking risks, and from what I've seen in the past, no risk now is gonna make me skeptical. If you prefer a more "normal" system and gameplaying then you should stick to the PS3 or something, but I'm all for the innovation, and that lightgun extension thing looks flippin sweet.
No prob if you disagree with us about the controller, but there's no point in bashing it. Like I've heard said before, calling someone fat doesn't make you thinner, calling someone stupid doesn't make you smarter, so I think your points been made that you don't like the control, you're only making yourself look worse now.
Not trying to be mean, but maybe this isn't the thread for you. A lot of us are pumped about the controller, no sense in being a party pooper. ^^;

Which is pretty funny, considering the original intent of this thread was, "Is Nintendo being stupid by making this controller?"

But, the focus of the thread has shifted, and that's cool. I'm tired of bashing it, I'm going to wait and try it out before I totally condemn it.

P.S. Felix, your fold a Luigi link is broken.

You guys do know that the pic of the gun add-on for the controller is an edited graphic, right? The trigger guard (and the trigger, for that matter) are much too small. And the gun bit looks off. The lines are too hard.

P.S. They should still make a pistol grip accessory . . .

They should make a friggin scope accesory for Silent Scopes games on Lightguns, sheesh the games are great at the arcade but it's so annoying to use the controller for them on a console.

Repeat after me: the Revolution controller is not a light gun
So if you move your controller to the right edge of the screen and shoot, it will not shoot at the right edge of the screen. Rather, your view will move to the right and you will be shooting into the middle of your screen, regardless of where you have your Revolution controller pointed.

The device in question would follow an LED light in two dimensions. It coulnd't detect tilt or forwards and backwards orientation, and was entirely optica, whereas Revolution's wand will be digital.
