Xenogears and Xenosaga

Postby Tommy » Thu Sep 15, 2005 12:45 pm

I got this game a little while ago. The battle system is awesome, the characters are great, I just love everything about it. The graphics are like the original Grandia but an ounce more detailed.

I made a thread about Xenosaga/Xenogears to get the scoop to fins out if there are legally connected.
Just tell me which is better: Xenogears or the Xenosagas. Just compare each category to the other on the two series.

Should I pick up Episode 1 or is Xenogears better?

Were you aware the original Xenogears had an err...intimate scene between two of the characters? If you were I guess you don't have a problem with it. But if you didn't then it's definetley something you may want to know before you play too far.

I`m about halfway done with Disc 1. Is there any nudity involved? If there is, I`m sure it would be rated M.

Also who does Fei end up with? the red-headed girl?

Um, original Xenogears......there`s only one.

I know, but so many people call Xenosaga a sequel to Xenogears it confuses me sometimes.
I've never played the games, my parents don't approve of some of the viewpoints. However, I have read on another (reliable, don't worry) forum that there are one or 2 of those scenes, and it includes very, very, brief nudity (think Cowboy Bebop: The Movie).

From what I understand, there is full frontal nudity on the 2nd disc of Xenogears. But it's Barbie-doll nudity, no private parts.

Xenosaga and Xenogears are related in the same way Guns & Roses and Velvet Revolver are related. They both come from the same thing, but they're technically different. Xenogears is part 5 in a six episode series. Like Star Wars, the creators chose to start later in the series. Xenosaga Ep.1 drove 'Gears fans nuts becuase they thought the creators were giving us the rest of the series, but they (the creators) have come out and stated that the two are not the same.

I personally liked Xenosaga Ep.1 more than Xenogears, but it's totally up to your preference. You may hate 'Saga and love 'Gears or vice versa.

I think there are three "intimate" scenes between characters in Xenogears. Two were between Ramsus and Ming and one was between Fei and his love interest. All three scenes were done using the in game graphics so there isn't any detailed nudity, I think they are just shown laying in bed next to eachother. However, there is some nudity in the final anime sequence at the end of the game, but as Michael said it's just "barbie doll" nudity. Still, I was surprised that the game got away with a T rating due to general content and a few anime sequences early on that were kind of gory. I would have given it an M.

Xenosaga technicly CAN'T be related to Xenogears because of copy right issues. Squenix owns the rights to Gears and Saga is made by a different company. However, I think there are too many similarities between the series for them to be completly unrelated, my theory is the game developers changed some things around and just SAID they are unrelated so they could avoid copy right issues. I think it's possible that Episode 3 (which was just announced as the last episode in the Saga series) could end in a way that implies the story carries on into Xenogears, without being totally obvious.

I like Xenogears quite a bit better than Xenosaga actually.

Xenogears had a good battle system.
Xenosaga had a tedious and boring one that nearly gave me a headache. Yeah, they should have focused more on improving the gameplay. By the final battle, I just wanted it to end.

Xenogears contained a complete story, that gave you all the information that you needed.
Xenosaga's story leaves things hanging...

And the fact that series creators Takahashi and Saga were removed/demoted from Monolith Soft before Episode II was complete didn't impress me very much...
Yeah, I haven't played Episode II actually. But I'm in no hurry to....

As far as nudity in Xenogears is concerned, there are a few scenes with naked sprites on the second disk, but those obviously don't show much.
The characters in the ending anime sequence were naked but I seem to recall that there were convenient lights and camera angles covering up most of it...well...except for a (male...I think) butt shot or two.
Granted...it has been a very long time since I played the game.

Whoa, as long as the bad stuff is in-game graphics I guess I`ll still play through it. I haven`t seen any gore just pointless blood so far.

Is the barbie-doll nudity shown for like a spirit thing or for bad purposes?

Both acually, but it doesnt show anything and the story in it does deal with reencarnation and humanism. Its like anything that you would see in a Final Fantasy. Though personally It doesn't bother me all that much because I appreciate it as a good story and not spiritual truth. Others may feel differently about that though.

Gears and FF7 are tied in my book as the two greatest games ever.

Yeah, i heard the purpose of Xenogears was to make a game that matches FF7`s elements to match FF7`s populaity. Thank God for those Gears. I have one question, I want answered in spoiler brackets.

Is the last boss an
A. Angel Thing
B. Monster Thing
C. Ginat Gear
D. Normal Person
E. none of the above

I don't remember what it looked like exactly either...but it's probably closer to A or B.

That`s not a spoiler.....

Anyways, I saw that "scene" last night with Ramsus and Miang last night coincidentally.......

Wow, if that`s the "really intament" seen then you guys must really love to scope things out. I mean, it`s bad that they`re not married, but they weren`t doing anything.....they were just sleeping and then Ramsus got up and walked out. I know someone said it wasn`t bad but others said it was enough to make the game M including the last scene with the Barbie Doll. I think it deserves whatever FF7 deserved.

Sorry for doubleposting, I`m at the very end of Xenogears so I have comments.

The scene between Fei and Elly...so intimate...they show an anime cutscene of them about to kiss, and the ingame graphics show them do it. Then they basically say: 'The Next Morning'. They don`t show anything...it`s 'implied.'

Definately one of the best RPGs as you progress. The pnly real thing I have against it as that they have you wait through 30 minutes of cutscenes, fight hard boss, loose, see cutscenes again, this is annoying. If you could skip text sequences, this game would be much better.

As for story, "ONE OF THE BEST". One thing I`m not proud of is the constant claiming that Deus is god. If they called him Gaia, then I would be happy. I have more comments, but I have to leave right now, ill be back to add osme later. Do you guys agree or disagree?
