Romancing SaGa (PS2 Remake)

I had my christmas list for RPGs all set.

Kingdom Hearts II
Dragon Warrior VIII

Although, I stumbled upon a remake of an classic and I was debating if I should get this game. Is the "Romancing" mooshy? I heard it`s a freestlye RPG, but I`m still not sure if I should buy it. Give me the preview and 101 on the orginal.
And compare it to my other two choices by stimating.
