All righty! Here's the FINAL character design on Kai Shao. If I'm lucky this will stay consistant throughout the manga to be!

Yay! That's great! Sorry, I've just spent the last 3 hours commenting on DA art, so my reviews are becoming... zombie-ish...

People who write below their abilities in order to crank out tons of books and make a buck. Especially Christian authors who do that. Outsiders judge us for it, and make fun of us for it, and it makes Jesus look bad. We of all artists on earth should be the most concerned with doing our best possible work at all times. We of all people should write with all our hearts, as if writing for the Lord and not for men.

Postby ThaKladd » Mon Dec 01, 2003 3:31 am

How does the poeple in Jesu Freaks: year 2603 explain the fact that Jesus has not returned and the end has not come in the year of 2603?
or... has it come?

We all are like waiting for the end(and the bible say that it comes soon).... is there any meaning behind by putting this to the year 2603...?

I just wonder...

hmph! you mean the rapture?? Jesus WILL NOT return untill EVERY person is bowing and worshiping him the bible says so. Most people today beleive the lie the Jesus is comming back any minute. when jesus returns the vast majority of thew world will be christian... and i make no bones about that

Sounds a bit sketchy to me... I always thought it was to do with whether everyone had heard the Gospel or not. I don't like to get involved in rapture debates anyway. I come from the view that Revelations is a guide so that Christians will very obviously see the end of the world as it happens, not as something that we should speculate over... many Christians have different views on this and it all amounts to a lot of wasteful arguing in my opinion. One thing is certain anyway, nobody knows when Jesus will return. That is very clear.

Lets return this thread on topic anyway.

yes, let us return... but...

Postby ThaKladd » Mon Dec 01, 2003 12:17 pm

I'll first answer Ruroken very short.

I thougt that the verse ment that when Jesus return, everybody will see his power and then forced to bow down before him. Like the Jews when they went out from egypt at the mount Sinai.... I agree djnoz about that everybody must have heard the gospel.... (but... we do not know the hour, nor the day, maybe not the year - but still we can se the signs in time so we can be sure about that it's pretty soon...)

...but let us not discuss this. I think christian art/comics are good anyway if it gives somthing of the chrsitian belief and truth to the reader!

I think therefore your work is great Roruken! :thumb:

Ruroken: there are many, many beliefs about Rapture. Trust me you dont want to have a discussion about it. I have to say that though you believe one thing, there might not be others in the community who do, so be careful. I remember the "Fight" that happened in my school over Rapture. everyone believed differently. its one of those things that many Christian people just cant agree on.

This is NOT a hit to your belief! I am just saying that I dont want to hear a fight over it.

And te bible litterallly says that. ive read it iwish i could remmeber exactly. cmon you cant deny what the bible plainly states. im not trying to start a fight

Here are my comments on your artwork, Ruroken.

I recommend partings on the fringe of your characters to allow the eyes to peek though. While it's Ok to have hair covering over the eyes, the eyes are the soul expression of your characters (so it's important for ppl to see them)and it's kinda weird to have transparent hair. Pink, neon yellow, bright blue hair....erm Ok but not transparent.. If you look closely at Kenshin manga or the attachments, you'll see the hair fringe partings that I'm talking about. (Erm, hope you don't mind me redrawing your pics.)

Also, it's better to make partings in the hair, coz hair is important in providing the 'life' element to a character. The more strands the better (IMO). I always say, let the hair fly, baby! Let it rip, oh yeah!! And let your clothes fly too. Wait, I DON'T mean "rip-off-leaving-you-nude!" I meant it like "chinese martial art" style. Kenshin manga does a wonderful job with such an element and I can see you adding it to your work. Keep up the nice work with 'flying' clothes...

I noticed that your main medium is pencil, which is fine coz that's what I only use right now  I try to make my art looked like it was inked by darkening the pencil outlines using Photoshop. I usually play around with the brighten/contrast function. I don't really know what you are trying to achieve with 'smoothed' but the pencil sketch looks fine enough for me. ^^

One last thing, I recommend more 'shoulders' for your action men. ^^

Hope this helps. :)

Alright all your aspiring Christian manga artists...forget the arguments and go work on your projects. [MichiruT gently bundles everyone back to their drawing boards]

Glad to see the posts getting back to happier topics. I think that either is fine. why? because you could have your own original style within anime!
Or, you could go with the norms until you have a better idea of what you are trying to represent with the characters.

Either way, you go Ruroken! you are coming up strong
