Oooh, another Avengers fan! I prefer the black and white Emma Peel episodes, but the colour ones are fun also. I did *not* like Tara. Linda Thorson was an unbelievable ditz.
I'm also probably one of the few Avengers fans who actually liked the movie, although I liked it for Sean Connery ("Now is the winter of YOUR discontent!") and the script. Also, Jim Broadbent made a great Mother. However, Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman were badly miscast -- Fiennes didn't play Steed with enough panache, and Thurman ... well ...
At least Patrick MacNee was in the movie, if only invisibly. *rimshot*
I'm also probably one of the few Avengers fans who actually liked the movie, although I liked it for Sean Connery ("Now is the winter of YOUR discontent!") and the script. Its a pleasure to meet anouther "agent!" 
You & I agree on both the TV series & the movie. Really annoys me that the always give the original actors these least or throw a bone roles. They should be part of the story, not an afterthought.
But the TV shows were sooo cool! Most of them may have been shot as stage plays, but diffenatly better storytelling then today's.

The black and white ones seem to be the best at storytelling. I liked the Quick Quick Slow Slow Death and A Surfeit of H2O best, although of the colour episodes, The Correct Way To Kill always cracked me up. The Invisible Man was also surprisingly good, if a little cheesy.

How old does it have to be to be classic?. . . my favorite TV show of all times is the Cosby Show, and I don't think it qualifies as a classic yet, but one day it will be!

The 1980s one has a few good episodes, particularly "The Pawn," but the 1960s one was the best. Episodes like "Operation Rogosh" and "Live Bait" ... man. They don't make them like that anymore.

Ohh, I'd have to say I Love Lucy, The Cosby Show (not the oldest, but eh), The Andy Griffith Show, and Zorro! Ack, I used to love Zorro! I also remember watching old Batman eps with Adam West...Not a favorite, but it's great to poke fun at!! "Confound it!! The batteries are dead!!" Wow. Good stuff, I say.
