The Straight and Narrow

I chose to walk the straight and narrow road, but one day I lost balance and fell off it. I had fallen onto some sharp rocks and injured myself. There were people passing by who would merely stare at me, and then keep walking. Thoughts of worthlessness entered into my mind, and as I chose to believe the lies, my wounds grew worse. I was so overcome with grief that I nearly gave up... but then a man walked up to me and stopped. Without saying a word, he started to wrap my wounds, he gave me some water, and then lifted me up and embraced me. He then whispered these words into my ear, "I love you my child." As he said those words I could feel all the worthlessness and despair fall away. He then held out his hands. They had huge holes in them. He then said, "Walk with me." I then took his hand and we walked together. Every now and then I would fall from the road, but no matter where I fell, he was always there to pick me up and tell me that He loved me.

It is illegal to download the lastest Japanese updates for American models until it is released in America. By doing so, you automatically void copyright laws and you no longer have a warranty on your PSP. US Gamers are supposed to wait.

ok now i step in...
the psp IS somewhat fragile (if you dont have it in its case) and its not made for little kids. the ds is made for little kids.
secondly some psp's DO have dead pixels, but most screens that have the quality of the psp or better DO have dead pixels. I had to take THREE tvs back once due to the fact they had a ton of dead pixels on screen...
Oh and bad battery life? Yes the battery life cant compare to the precious ds but if you spend the money to get a battery brick its life gets even better then the ds's.

secondly if you hate the psp why post it in this topic? what is the purpose seriously? but to flame it and say it sucks. please dont post stuff like this only post things helpfull!

oh and the update for the American version of the psp (2.0 i think) is coming out the 12th of this month. oh and on the subject of interent there has awlays been a trick to surfing the net (albeit with a clunky browser (hopes the 2.0 one isnt clunky) via wipeout pure.

You tell em desperado. I'm really getting sick of people bashing the PSP. It's doing for the handheld market what the Playstation did for consoles. Making handhelds more of an "adult" gaming experience instead of a Pokemon fest.

The PSP has a disc drive in it and a huge LCD screen of course it's going to be a little more fragile than your Gameboy or DS. It's catered to the 18 year and older crowd it's not meant to be thrown around by 10 year olds with ice cream on their hands.

Like desperado said welcome to the world of LCD screens. Go look at a thousand LCD computer monitors you'll probably find some dead pixels on them as well. It's just the luck of the draw and they all got exchanges so just a minor inconvenience.

6 hours is pretty reasonable in my opinion for something that fits in my hands and plays games that look almost PS2 quality. I mean who really plays a handheld that long straight anyway? You shouldn't be doing *anything* for six or more straight hours except working or sleeping. And if you're taking it on a long trip buy the brick or get the charger for a car and you're good to go.

And of course my thoughts exactly why even post here. If you don't like the PSP fine don't buy one, but let the rest of us have our handheld gaming goodness in peace. Mkay?;)

There's only one problem with the PSP right now and that's that it is in the summer drought of good new releases. It has a good number of less than stellar ports but some very good originals like Metal Gear Acid, Lumines, Wipeout Pure, and so on. But can any other handheld out there claim to have graphics like that, play movies, mp3's, and your games? I think not. And look at this list of upcoming PSP games for the doubters that no quality games are coming.

I have many personal comments concerning the PSP, but I understand that it is indeed a more "adult" system. Besides that point, I think it is pretty dang sweet to be able to send stuff like that.

*prays his DS maybe able to do the same someday*

yeah but if they added a browser and some stuff in it would only raise the price and to appeal to there demographic they have to keep it low (by far the ds sells towards younger children) (and when exactly did this topic turn away from the psp and become a ds topic?)

That might not be so far off. A couple of clever hackers got a DS to run Linux. :)

Bull honkey. There are plenty of DS games aimed at teens and adults.

seriously when did this become a ds topic?
if you want a ds topic go create one, quite hijacking this thread towards the ds. Its a different system, its aimed at a different demographic, it has totally different games.

the psp isnt a system aimed at kids, its games are more sports and racing oriented, with good fighting games and rpgs coming soon. the ds has more minigame styled games. It is also more durable and has better battery life, yet it doesnt have memory cards, the ability to play mp3s movies and post pictures surf the internet and be able to download games. plus if you think about it for a moment the battery life is eaten up by a screen that has the ability to play dvd quality movies and video games with slightly under par uptodate ps2 graphics. (compare that to the n64 graphics on the ds)

also tell me a game me or one of my freinds would like besides mario64 or meteos. maybe warioware but those are timeless games, good for 10-20 year olds. also if you say splinter cell i will smack you because of how glitchy it is. (i played it and i had a ds at one point and time)

so straight to the point because i have to get ready to go see the dukes of hazard (hope it doesnt suck but even if it does ill get my charger fill) ds is different then the psp, psp has several areas its better in so does the ds, both are aimed at different demographics. the psp is far more complex and can do many more things. and finally this is a psp topic, quite hijacking!

Actually, that's probably a bad idea. Doing so would probably throw everyone into another bashing "this handheld is better than the other" war.
You made this thread simply to show you could send stuff from the PSP, not really to talk which is better.
From what I've seen, both systems have done fine in their own ways. Honestly, it seems to come down as a matter of opinion which one is truly "better". Personally, I like the DS better, but this is your thread and I give enough respect not to say anything against your opinion or what you like.

With that said, carry on.

My issue with the PSP is that so far, there are hardly any games for this impressive looking game machine. I counted what fifteen different games on the rack at Walmart (not the best point of reference admitelty) and about twice as many movies. Most of what I hear about it is hacks to surf, run emulators, copy games ect. It does look beautiful and has enourmous potential, including it's other capablilites, but where are the games?

so far there are quite a few games that are good such as coded arms, wipeout pure, lumines, metal gear ac!d, tony hawks underground 2 and several other sports games. and if you want to see the impresive lineup that is coming go to one of the game sights and look at whats coming out. currently im anxiously awaiting y's ark of nephitism since the eternia game isnt going to be ported (I HATE THEM for not bringing it here it looks really stinking good)

I don't have any games for my PSP yet. I am just enjoying the internet browser feature, MP3 player, Video Player and Photo storage capabilities. I think PSP is so capable that you don't even have to have games to enjoy having one, but of course, I will go out and buy games, as soo as I get back to America... I don't think I would enjoy a game in Japanese too much....

Rpg fans do have some games to look forward to on the PSP:

Agetec is localizing PoPoLoCrois.

Bandai is localizing Nihon Falcom's Legend of Heroes IV. The Legend of Heroes series is Falcom's second flaghip series behind Ys.

Apparantly, they are taking advantage of the fact that there are no big Square-Enix titles on the PSP so they can introduce new properties to the US. Not that I'm complaining...

I really hope they do introduce some Square-Enix titles though.

I mean, a final fantasy for PSP? That would be awesome. Even if they could release like FF VII, VIII, or IX or een a set with all three? SOmething like that would be aweosme... or even a Chrono Trigger package... Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross.... I dunno, but I love Square-Enix

Final Fantasy VII: Core Crisis is coming to PSP, but it's suppose to be more of an "action" title. And Zack seems to have something in this one as well...

Some portable Square RPG's would be okay to fill the void of RPG's on PSP. But still I'd like it if they stopped making so many remakes for it and put out more originals. And if they do I hope they bundle them together at a discount price.

I forgot about that one. But, meh, all these FFVII spinoffs...
I might pick them up if they get good reviews or whatever, but I'd prefer more original games or an actual sequal...

Yeah, you probably could if you have enough money. And I don't think you have to worry about scratching them. The USDs are whatever are in this protective covering, so unless you actually try to scratch them, you shouldn't worry.
