So, what's the current status of Christian games?

Have a video game or or VG review? This is the place to to discuss it! We also accept discussions of board games and the like, but SHHH! Don't tell anyone, OK?

Fight apocalyptic battles in New York?
Wouldn't that mean that you would play as the rebel army against the army of Nicholai (SP)? That jsut seems kinda odd since those people didn't really do so hot... At least that's what I gathered from what I've read of the Left Behind Series.
That does look interesting. Maybe we'll finally get a true decent Christian game.

I for one am praying this will suceed because if it doesn't it will just stregthen publisher's resolve that a Christian game won't work.

Would you say that most of the E-rated titles in Video Games have a Christian theme to them in that they establish clear cut guidelines of Good and Evil ,and have Good triumphing in the end?

Yes and no. While positive, they don't define Christianity, or even provide a clear allegory.

Not really. That`s like saying most of the G-Rated movies have Christian themes.

Most Sports games are E, and I don`t think they deliver a Christian message of good triumphing over evil unless you play as the Red Sox and beat the Yankees. XD

I don't see another interpretation of his post from my immediate look.

As for The Rebel Planet... interesting. This is perhaps the first time I have seen a prospective Christian game I feel has a good premise, so I hope that it lives up to its promises and also has enjoyable gameplay.

*laughs histerically* You read my mind! I'm going to have to put that in my sig. But I agree, E rated games don't always have a Christian theme. Just look at Smash Bros. for the 64.

Kid: "SMASH ATTACK!!!!"

 Nope sorry. Doesn't fit.

I don't have time to read all four pages of this thread...

Were any of these games talked about?

Saints of Virtue
Captain Bible
Catechumen
Spiritual Warfare
Joshua
Exodus

A general post # range would be nice. Those are personal little favorites of mine, for various reasons (nostalgia mostly), and I was wondering if they were ever brought up.

Shoot. See what happens when you abandon a forum? All the good stuff happens.

Saints of Virtue was a low-budget FPS released around '99. It has a special place in my heart.

So...got post count numbers or pages for me?

I`m not into backtracking either. They aren`t as good as secular games in enjoyment level. I`m sure that`s all that was mentioned.

Yes. It was released by Wisdom Tree on the NES and Genesis.

It's like Bomberman + Dig Dug + Pac Man.

I think the Christian gaming industry is kind of in the same boat as the christian movie industry...both seem to lack quality writers(and designers)...most projects are just thrown together..thinking "well, it has stuff about the bible in it! That's all you need!!"

No.

Every now and then we do get some really high quality Christian movies. And I believe that within the next few decades Christian gaming is going to evolve into a medium that gains more respect.

Just an odd piece of information about Captain Bible...

You know how we were talking about how Christian games could use a little more violence? Well, I remember fighting a robot in CB in which, when I answered a question correctly, the good Captain sliced open the robot's head, revealing a green pulsating brain. I just remembered that.

And I believe that within the next few decades Christian gaming is going to evolve into a medium that gains more respect.

And there in lies the problem. It's gonna take soooo loooong.

Yeah, I remember that. (Still play the game, actually. It was such a part of my childhood I just can't bear to stop.) :eyeroll:

And when you killed the cybers, there'd be green stuff all over the floor when you came back. Always liked that as a kid...

I really appreciate the compliments on the article, by the way. It wasn't accepted too well in the secular community, really, so it's nice to see somebody liked it.

And I won't hate you for saying Bible Adventures was good, Tom.
