I'm disappointed...does anyone ever wish games were like they used to be?

Have a video game or or VG review? This is the place to to discuss it! We also accept discussions of board games and the like, but SHHH! Don't tell anyone, OK?

Personally, I think games reache their peak with Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar... after that, things got too dang complicated

There is a fine line between nostalgia blindness. Yup, it's real easy to look back at Mario and Sonic and Zelda and Pacman and Donkey Kong and say how much greater games were back then. We forget about all the lousy licenced games and failed experiments. At the same time, we are still playing and talking about the good games from back then. I really don't think that there will be the same levels of nostalgia about Halo, Warcraft and GTA in twenty years, just because each sequel makes the previous one obsolete, whereas Super Mario Bros. 2, 3, World, ect. didn''t make Super Mario Bros. less fun. The aim today seems to be to fix all the problems with the previous game (bugs, level design, storyline) instead of build off of the first.

If I'm wrong, please look me up in twenty years and let me know.

You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. Rom. 6:18

God can do anything, anytime, anyway He wants to.......if He wants to paint me blue and hang me upside down nekkid from an apple tree, thats alright, as long as it's God doing it. Of course, if He comes through with a directive like that, I might have to ask for some I.D. Michael Wanke

Would you be considered an old fart of gaming if you`re 14 but you had an NES for awhile when it was popular.

I didn`t try RPGs until PS2. I porbably wouldn`t have understood them anyways.

Well, I enjoy nostalgia too. I'm not saying games were BAD. Just that they're not better than the games of today.

Want proof? Is the "Namco Museum" game for PS2/Gamecube outselling all other titles? Of course not. I own that game, and it's fun to play Galaga and Ms. Pac Man and Dig Dug for a half hour or so. But it doesn't keep me glued to my console like, say, Metroid Prime 2.

Though SOME old games keep me glued to my TV for hours. Like Food Fight for the Atari 7800. Or Arkista's Ring for NES.
