Anyone notice this trend?

Have a video game or or VG review? This is the place to to discuss it! We also accept discussions of board games and the like, but SHHH! Don't tell anyone, OK?

Anyone notice this trend?

From a Gamepro article: It never fails. Just as new console hardware like the Xbox 360 rears it's prodigious head over the horizon, developers and designers who are creating games for the currect generation of consoles begin to make a run of great stuff. One would think that console manufacturers (Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo) would get their best and brightest minds up and running near top speed at the start of a system's life cycle... but it never works out that way. But the creative juices just keep flowing....

(Don't feel like typing out the rest)

The point of the article is, the moment new hardware is on the horizon, current generations of games seem to get noticibly better than they have been. Even Xbox is now brimming with games I personally want to play even though last year I wouldn't have given an Xbox purchase a single thought, since there were only four games I would buy for it anyways. Now there are about 10+. This year also marks quite a few major sequels that are anticipated to surpass the originals. I agree that this is an ongoing trend I've observed with gaming. Thoughts? Opinions?

Yeah, it always happens in nearly every generation of consoles. I think its partly because the developers have gained alot of experience with the hardware and are able to do some amazing things with it. It seems that their craft gets better with its practice, and we see the very best they can do at the end. They are also obligated to publish some of the games that have been in production for a very long time at the end of the system's life. So, I guess in many ways its their last chance to release games for the console and they try to make them excellent.

That and they need to keep you from just waiting until the new consoles come out and not buying anything new during that time.

Did you hear they plan on releasing Halo 3 the same day PS3 comes out? Eh.....those X-nerds.

I`d rather get a PS3 and an Nrev instead of a 360.
