Favorite/Least favorite Star Wars lines (entire anthology)

Postby Ingemar » Mon Jun 20, 2005 12:00 am

Favorite: Apology accepted, Captain Needa.
Least favorite: I don't like sand (and the rest of that monologue).

Ironically, both lines are said by the same "character" (who happened to be played by five different people).

Too many, narrowing it down:

"Misplaced trust in your new apprentice you have. Same for your misplaced trust in The Dark Side."

"No, Luke I am your Father"

"I'll never turn to the Dark Side. I am a Jedi, like my Father before me."

Two of my favs:

"I have no time to discuss this with the Committee!" - Han Solo

"He's no use to me dead" - Fett

Least is a tossed up between:

"Only a Sith deals in absolutes."

-Speaking of the "Do or Do not" one, doesn't that conflict with the absolute line? Hehe.

-and

"Your not all powerful Ani." "Well I should be, someday I will be, someday I'll be the most powerful Jedi ever!!11!1one"

Runner up:

That whole I'm sooo in love with you mess from Episode III.

Favorite lines, hmm...

Most of Han's lines are pretty good.

"Hurry up, Goldenrod! You're gonna be a permanent resident!" XD

Leia: "Would it help if I got out and pushed?"
Han: "It might!"

-Least- favorite? Ehen...

"YIPPEE!"

"Are you an angel?"

Guh. >_>

Favorite lines... I can't think of any, really. I also try not to choose least favorite lines, but occasionally one is uttered that sticks in my mind. I'm sure if I rewatched the original trilogy I'd find ones I didn't like, but for now only the second is in recent memory.

"Are you an angel?" (...lame and contrived)
"It is obvious this conflict will not be resolved by our knowledge of the Force." (what?)

Now, I hope that doesn't make things become negative.

Favorite lines:
Obi-Wan: I'll take care of this.
Han: D*** old fool, I knew you'd say that...
Oi-Wan: Who is more of a fool, the fool, or the fool who follows him?

Han: Nice girl. Either I'm gonna kill her, or I'm starting to like her.

Leia: I'd rather kiss a Wookie.

Least favorite:

Anakin: You're beautiful.
Padme: Maybe it's beause I'm so in love?
Anakin: Maybe it's because I'm so in love.

Anything Jar-Jar says...

Young Anakin: YIPPEE!

Favorite Parody of a Line:
Anakin: I hate sand. It's so sandy. (looks at Padme) But you...you're not sandy...and that is why I love you.

Favorites:

The aforementioned "Everything's fine down here...how are you?" from Han Solo in the detention center

Luke: She's rich...rich, powerful. Listen, if you were to rescue her, the reward would be...
Han: What?
Luke: Well, more than you can imagine!
Han: I don't know, I can imagine quite a bit.

Least favorite:

Vader: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! (Episode III)

Luke: But I wanted to go to Toshi station and get some power converters! (said in his whiniest voice)

I guess this isn't a "line," but--did anyone else notice Leia's "incredible disappearing accent" during Ep IV?

Another unfavorite line--
Leia: You know Ben Kenobi?

(for two reasons: first, "duh, of course he knows Ben Kenobi. Why would he mention someone he doesn't know?" Second--"how do YOU know Ben Kenobi? You know OBI WAN, not "BEN." It just seemed like a plothole to me).

Fav: "what a wonderful smell you have discovered!"

Least: "How did this happen? We're smarter than this!"

Most Quotable, but still horrible: "I killed them... I killed them all... Even the women and children" *sips on some blue milk*

Funny only because it is said in the exact same tone as the above: :This is the Happyest moment of my life."

Hmmm....

Faves: "In my experience, there's no such thing as luck." (Obi)
"Would someone get this walking carpet out of my way?" (Leia)
"How you get so big, eating food of this kind?" (Yoda)
"Your overconfidence is your weakness." "Your faith in your friends is yours" (Luke and Emperor Palpatine)
"Now, young Skywalker...You will die." (Emperor Palpatine)

Least Favorites....

"Meesa gonna..(Fill in blanks with any of Jar-Jar's lines here.) XP
"There's something alive in here!" (Luke) XD
"Wait a minute! How did this happen?! We're smarter than this!!" (I laughed here. I honestly thought that was a joke at first! -_-' )XD
"There's always a bigger fish." (Qui-Gon...but he gets cool points for being Liam Neeson.) XD

I find it funny that all of my favorite lines are from the original trilogy, while the majority of my least favorites are from the new one...XD

I had a difficult time narrowing the post down...it was originally long. ^^;;;;;

Favorites:
"Um...situation normal...ah...how're you?" (and the entire conversation in that segment)

Yoda: No! MINE! MINE!
Luke: *dejectedly* R2, let him have it...

"Why do I feel like he's going to be the death of me?"--Obi-Wan

(okay, I already said one ep II line, but this one is just TOO good to pass up)

Drug dealer: Wanna buy some death sticks?
Obi-Wan: *jedi mind trick* You don't want to sell me death sticks.
Dealer: I don't wanna sell you death sticks.
Obi-Wan: Go home and rethink your life.
Dealer: I'm going to go home and rethink my life...

"You're breaking my heart! You're going down a path that I can't follow..."--Padme

Least favorites:

Leia: I love you!
Han: I know. (What, no "I love you" in return?)

I can't remember the exact line...but Padme says something like "You're making me uncomfortable" and Anakin simply response with something like "You really like it"...or...something. Maybe I'm just making that up. O.o

"The patient SEEMS to be healthy...."
"So...she's dying of a broken heart"
(ok, maybe I'm making that one up, too...but I THINK that's what's said...can people REALLY die of a broken heart?)

That is actually a great line, in my opinion, mostly because of the fact that Solo doesnt return the the I love you with another I love you. It fits his character, and makes the scene distinct among the huge pile of love scenes in movies out there.

I saw a show about the Star Wars franchise and it was a reunion of all the people that were in the movie.

They said he was originally going to say "I Love You" in return but when they read over the script they decided it didn`t match Han Solo`s character. That line is kinda funny.

MorwenLaicoriel's post highlighted a number of things I at least found pretty funny, if not things I'd put on my favorites list.

MorwenLaicoriel wrote:Yoda: No! MINE! MINE!

This alone is quite funny.

MorwenLaicoriel wrote:Drug dealer: Wanna buy some death sticks?
Obi-Wan: *jedi mind trick* You don't want to sell me death sticks.
Dealer: I don't wanna sell you death sticks.
Obi-Wan: Go home and rethink your life.

Perhaps my favorite bit of dialogue from that movie...

"So...she's dying of a broken heart"

Do you refer to the end of Episode III? If so, the line wasn't quite as lame as that, though in essence it is true. I know that many elderly people basically do choose to die eventually (by which I mean: they live for one event, like a grandchild marrying, and then pass away not long after that), but I'm not sure if one's emotional state can actually be fatal.

I think the elderly people thing is plausible. Last year, my great uncle was on the last stages of cancer and they took him off life support. He was essentially braindead, but stayed alive long enough for his son from the Philippines to fly over.

Still, I find Padme's death extremely contrived.

I know a lot of people love Han Solo's "I know" moment...and there's probably worse lines I could find if I took out my Star Wars DVDs and watched them again (preticularly if I watched Ep II). I guess I just think that it's sort of a lame thing to say when you're possibly saying the last thing you could ever say to someone. XD Or maybe I'm just too much of a romantic.

I guess a lot of the lines I listed as favorites were more just lines that I felt don't get as much acknowledgement as I like. XD I mean, a lot of lines that were already mentioned are my favorites, too. I'm a bit too indicisive to have a sure-fire "this is my favorite line"...and I tend to like humorous lines more than the phyisophical/serious lines of the series because I can randomly quote the humorous ones more often.

Bah, I knew I had the Ep III line horribly wrong. XD But yeah, I just felt the death of Padme could've been better. I can see her losing the will to live because of her great depression about Anakin, so if the robot had mentioned that she seemed to have minor injuries, but nothing fatal, I would've been more inclined to believe it. But, (if I remember right) the robot says there's NOTHING phyiscally wrong with her. And I just can't see how a young women would die simply because of childbirth and emotional distress when she's obviously in a well-kept medical center. Plus, wouldn't she at least want to live for her children? (Although I suppose it's not like I can say "I could totally handle the situation!" since I've never gone through childbirth or anything even remotely similar to what Padme goes through.)
